Aim of the job
Since 2014, Hivos Southeast Asia has been implementing a Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) project on behalf of the DFAT-funded Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Promoting Rural Income through Support for Markets in Agriculture (AIP-PRISMA) program.  The project, entitled “Commercial Pig Rearing in Nusa Tenggara Timur”, was implemented in Flores in partnership with private sector entities, civil society organisations, and individual farmers.
The objective of the project is to increase pig farmer incomes by improving and incentivizing productivity. This will be achieved by addressing several constraints on farmers' efficient participation in the market, namely: facilitating farmer access to finance; increasing the speed at which pigs can be raised via the introduction of improved pig breeds; encouraging the development of service providers for fodder, extension services, commercial aggregation and processing; and developing retail, wholesale and export potential in NTT.
Functional context
The Field Coordinator will be based in Ruteng.  Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the  Field Coordinator is responsible for leading project activities in West Flores, coordinating with project partners, ensuring implementation is in accordance with the overall plan, and for the achievement of targets.  The Field Coordination is in frequent communication with other field team members, particularly the Monitoring and Results Measurement Manager.
Roles and responsibilities
  • Develop and implement project strategy at the district level in collaboration with the Project Manager, the Monitoring Result and Measurement Manager and other related stakeholders
  • Working hand in hand with the Monitoring Result and Measurement Manager conducting Monitoring Result and Measurement in the intervened project areas
  • Closely coordinate and consolidate with the local implementing partner organization and ensuring smooth implementation of the project activities
  • Provide general support, guidance, and serve as focal point during program planning and reporting
  • Ensure that Hivos and donor regulations applicable in the targeted areas
  • Represent Hivos at the general meetings with donors, humanitarian actors, local authorities, protocol meetings, as well as sector program meetings.
Knowledge, experiences and competencies
  • Bachelor degree in Social Science or other related field.
  • Excellent communication and representative skills (written, oral, cross-cultural).
  • Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situation.
  • Ability to adapt within the working environment.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • English language skill is highly required.
  • At least 3 years previous field experience in livelihood/income generating project, ideally in a similar role.
  • Experience working in East Nusa Tenggara is preferable.
  • Minimum one year of previous experience in an NGO in mid-managerial position.
  • Innovative, willingness to learn from mistakes, out-of-the-box thinker.
  • Good interpersonal skill and ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate between different teams to achieve objectives.
