GIZ in cooperation with the “Directorate General for New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (DG NREEC)“ is presently implementing the project “Promotion of Least Cost Renewables in Indonesia”. The project aims at the use of renewables in areas where they can be applied most cost efficiently.

- Facilitate communication between the project and private sectors in the agro-industries
- Provide technical evaluation on project activities related to biomass and biogas applications in the agro-industries

Required qualifications, competences and experience
- Assess technical and economic feasibility of bioenergy project activities, especially in collaboration with Indonesian agro-industries (e.g. palm oil mills, sugar industries etc), bioenergy technology providers, and project developers.
- Contribute to the development, supervision and monitoring of implemented project activities
- Review technical reports and monitor project progress including determine bottlenecks in the implementation of project activities and recommend alternative course of management action to the Principal Advisor.
Coordination and Networking
- Maintain and develop close contacts to agro-industries, e.g. palm oil, sugar, tapioca
- Maintain and develop close contacts to relevant private sectors in the field of bioenergy applications and other RE technologies, e.g. technology providers, project developers
- Maintain and develop close contacts to relevant Government of Indonesia (GoI) counterparts, especially to DG NREEC, Ministry of Finance (MoF), Ministry of Planning (BAPPENAS)
Knowledge management
- Support the preparation of reports and publications
- Prepare presentation materials such as brochures and power-point presentations as outputs from pilot project results, RE technology evaluations or other related activities
- Stay abreast of developments in global and Indonesian approaches for renewable energies
Other duties / additional tasks
- Subject to discussions with the Principal advisor. The RE advisor may be allocated additional tasks and other duties for shorter periods.
- The advisor shall be prepared to work in different GIZ offices in Jakarta on regular schedule and to work on LCORE project related issues as well as cross-program topics

- Science orientated degree in chemical engineering. Prior working experience in wastewater treatment process (WWTP) with private sector in Indonesia as well as international is advantageous.
- Very good communication skills with national stakeholders and experience in working in an international organisation
- Focussed and proactive working attitude
Professional experience
- At least 15 years working experience in the field of biogas energy, especially in Anaerobic Digestion (AD) systems, from agriculture industrial waste in general and specifically from Palm Oil Industry in Indonesia and/or ASEAN region is advantageous.
- At least 7 years working experience on the business development for WWTP services and engineering products in Indonesia and/or international is advantageous
- Familiar with the major issues of agro-waste utilisation in Indonesia, ideally with previous exposure to international and national wastewater technology providers
- Previous working experience in Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) process design
- Previous working experience in biogas plants development under Clean Development Mechanisms (CDM) projects
- Well understanding of related typical permits and requirements in AD and WWTP system in Indonesia
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
- Very good knowledge of English, including writing capabilities, very good knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia;
- Availability to travel within Indonesia for short-term project visits
