Job Title: Bookkeeper

Background
The YouthWin through Economic Participation (YEP) program is a USAID-funded activity under the USAID Kunci Initiative aimed at workforce development for poor and vulnerable youth in Indonesia. The YEP activity will create systemic change in how, where, and what economic skills are taught to empower poor and vulnerable youth in Indonesia. By teaching foundational economic skills to poor and vulnerable youth in Indonesia, YEP will facilitate increased employment, better performance in the workplace, and greater inclusion in the economy and financial system.

Financial Markets International (FMI), an American consulting firm, in partnership with the International Youth Foundation (IYF), an INGO; the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), Indonesia’s Securities Regulator; and various other partners will implement this program for USAID.

The YEP activity has three overall objectives: 1) create an innovative blend of market relevant content and pedagogy that bridges the most common gaps to economic participation for poor and vulnerable youth; 2) develop effective training delivery channels across technical and vocational educational institutions to prepare poor and vulnerable youth for work in any chosen path; and 3) build cross-sector stakeholder buy into establish sustainable economic education of youth and “scale-up” at the district, provincial, and national level.

Job Description
Under the supervision of Chief of Party, the Bookkeeper will perform the following tasks:
  • Maintaining the project’s accounting file system, ensuring all vouchers are in order, completed correctly, have bank slips/copy of checks attached, and other supporting documents are required.
  • Receiving and processing local invoices for approval payment to vendor or employees.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for payment transactions including but not limited to advances, petty cash voucher, in-house transfer, checks and transfer form.
  • Ensuring all transactions are supported with proper and complete documents and are alignment with FMI and USAID standard procedures.
  • Ensuring all transactions are entered into the correct account billing code.
  • Assist in preparing coding sheet and journal entries for posting purposes in Quickbook.
  • Maintaining accurate filing systems that ensure compliance with auditing practices.
  • As directed by COP , assist in providing a calculation of withholding information for suppliers, vendors, consultants, and other stakeholders according to the Indonesian tax regulations.
  • Complying with all KUNCI YEP and FMI project policies and procedures as noted in the project Operations Manual.
  • Performing other duties as requested by COP or his/her designee.
Supervision and Reporting:

The Bookkeeper will report directly to the COP.

Duration of Assignment:
12 months
 
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting is a must.
  • Minimum 1 year working experience as an accountant. Having USAID or other international donor experience preferred however fresh graduate are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word. Also, experience with accounting software programs such as QuickBooks and others preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia required.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, analytical, oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work well on teams.
  • Must be interested in working with a multi-cultural, international team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
