Swisscontact Job Vacancy: Project Associate - Jakarta

Swisscontact has been active in Indonesia for the past 42 years.
This position will cooperate with three large Swisscontact programs:
  • The Sus­tain­able Cocoa Pro­duc­tion Pro­gram (SCPP) aims to de­velop sus­tain­able agri­cul­tural value chains through co­op­er­a­tion with in­ter­na­tional pri­vate part­ners such as BT Cocoa, Barry Calle­baut, Cargill, Ecom, JB Cocoa, Mars, Mon­delēz In­ter­na­tional, and Nestlé. A total of 130,000 cocoa farmer house­holds will ben­e­fit through var­i­ous ca­pac­ity build­ing ef­forts in order to im­prove the pro­duc­tiv­ity and qual­ity of their cocoa pro­duc­tion.
  • The Tourism Development for Selected Destinations Program (WISATA) sup­ports the gov­ern­ment and local com­mu­ni­ties to de­velop selected areas as a travel des­ti­na­tion and to at­tract vis­i­tors who enjoy ad­ven­ture, cul­ture and sustainable na­ture. The pro­ject aims to de­velop Flo­res, Tanjung Puting, Toraja and Wakatobi as in­ter­na­tion­ally rec­og­nized tourist des­ti­na­tions, while at the same time pro­tect­ing their nat­ural and cul­tural iden­tities.
  • Swiss Impport Promotion Program (SIPPO) aims to strengthen business support organization in 11 developing and transition countries to enable them to deliver export promotion  services to an increasing  number of enterprises, The program outcome is successful export to Swiss, European and other important target markets and general additional jobs and income as well.

To promote capacity building services and raise awareness for the Intellectual Property (IP) community, Swisscontact is currently accepting applications for the position of:

PROJECT ASSOCIATE
Based in Jakarta (Job Code: PA - JKT)

The Project Associate is responsible for managing the Indonesian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (ISIP-II) in Indonesia under the supervision of The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI).

The Project Associate will be responsible for managing project activities, conducting monitoring and evaluation, managing the financial aspects of the program, maintaining networks and facilitating meetings with multiple stakeholders, and providing support to the IP for the project missions in Indonesia.

Tasks
  • Representing the project and acting as the focal point of The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) in Indonesia
  • Supporting the preparation and implementation of project activities and ensuring that they are delivered timely and in good quality;
  • Preparing and executing working contracts with sub-contractors of the program in Indonesia based on approval from the Project Coordinator;
  • Monitoring project activities and preparing reports in English for the Project Coordinator. Field travel necessary if required by the Project Coordinator;
  • Communicating regularly with the Project Coordinator via teleconference call on a weekly basis;
  • Attend bi-monthly meetings with national project coordinators of the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) and the Badan Ekonomi Kreatif (BEKRAF);
  • Manage administration of local funds, including financial and managerial accounting based on the guidelines provided by the IPI, and preparing for financial audits and project evaluations;
  • Facilitate Project Missions by the ISIP Project Coordinator of the IPI:
  • Prepare project missions (twice a year): propose mission agenda, confirm meetings, arrange logistics such as hotel bookings and transportation
  • Participate in IPI project missions;
  • Facilitate Coordination Group Meetings:
  • Scheduling and preparing the agendas for the Coordination Group Meetings (twice a year in the context of a project mission)
  • Prepare operational work plans and budgets to be submitted to the Coordination Group in close coordination with the ISIP Project Coordinator
  • Participate in Coordination Group Meetings, including drafting minutes;
  • Networking: Maintain close linkages with other development partners and agencies in sectors relevant to the project and with the SECO focal point of the Swiss Embassy in Jakarta, to ensure that complementarities and synergies with other activities/projects on IP, trade, legal/regulatory reform, and private sector development are taken into account;
  • Keep the IPI informed about any important developments affecting IP in Indonesia in general, and the project in particular

Employee Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in program design and implementation for an NGO or government office
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in government-relations; working with GOI stakeholders representing NGO programs (required)
  • Experience in tourism and hospitality development (advantage)
  • Experience in grant and proposal writing (advantage)
  • Experience in report writing in Bahasa Indonesia and English (required)
  • Ability to work legally in Indonesia
  • Excellent communication skills in English: fluent speaker or at least C1 / CEFR (written and spoken)
  • Native spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia and expert knowledge of Indonesian government structure on local, provincial and national levels
  • Strong coordination/ team cooperation skills (required)
