Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) in Tourism Sector
The national Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Programme (NRECPI) in Indonesia is calling for expressions of interest from suitably qualified Indonesian nationals for participation in a combined training and demonstration/assessment programme for Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) in the hotel and associated tourism sectors focused on Lake Toba within the greater region.
The RECP Programme in Indonesia is implemented by the UNIDO in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Environment Forestry and Ministry of Tourism and with funding support from the Government of Switzerland until June 2018. It is aimed at fostering the uptake of RECP methods, practices, technologies and policies, through capacity building, enterprise demonstrations, and policy advice. RECP is based on the application of preventive environmental management and total productivity concepts to manufacturing, tourism and other sectors, in order to achieve efficient use of natural resources (materials, water and energy), minimization of the generation of wastes and emissions, and reduction of chemical and industrial risks.
Introduction workshop was held previously in February 2016 in Sleman and Magelang, followed by training and demonstration/assessment programme from March 2016 in 18 hotels and associated tourism enterprises in Sleman and Magelang. The RECP programme will continue for selected 10 demonstration units of tourism sector in Lake Toba. Qualified training participants will be offered an opportunity to undertake RECP assessments in nominated hotels and/or related tourism enterprises under the guidance of international experts. Upon successful completion of such RECP assessments, trainees would qualify for a Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Award for experts, issued by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Candidates for Associate Assessor should have demonstrable knowledge in energy and/or environmental management and/or engineering and have demonstrable experience in application theory in service sectors and built environment. They should be familiar with the operation of hotel and tourism industry in Indonesia. Consultants, business advisors, lecturers and/or researchers are welcome to apply. He/she will support the execution of RECP Assessments in nominated demonstration enterprises (hotels and/or associated tourism sectors). English proficiency at professional level is highly desired.
