Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting expressions of interest for the Landscape Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator, Gunung Mas based on our USAID LESTARI project. USAID’s LESTARI project supports the Government of Indonesia to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and conserve biodiversity in carbon rich and biologically significant forest and mangrove ecosystems.
Job Summary: s/he is the lead LESTARI representative working on a day-to-day basis with government, NGO, community and other partners in Gunung Mas District of Central Kalimantan Province to communicate a clear vision for the LESTARI landscape approach and to garner commitment and leadership from stakeholders, to take tangible steps in climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation commitments. The role will also entail advocating and strengthening citizen-based mechanisms for public input on land use by working with district governments to create space and opportunities for citizens to engage on land use issues, especially licensing and permits and monitoring of enforcement efforts. This work is part of building stronger constituencies that are better informed and appreciative of their natural resources and the environment and increasing district governments’ willingness to adopt input from citizen-based mechanisms, based on developed trust between government and civil society.
Requirements include previous experience in a similar position for USAID project or other international donor projects; minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and maintaining stakeholder networks; strong understanding of consultation principles and tools and ability to apply these effectively; highly developed influencing and relationship management skills; awareness and understanding of how government operates and experience of working in a policy environment; in-depth understanding of land use governance, conservation and climate change issues is an advantage; in-depth understanding of assigned district is an advantage; excellent conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to identify and manage emerging issues and risks in relation to stakeholder coordination; proficient in using computers with related knowledge of software programs and internet; must also have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment; native fluency in spoken and written Indonesian; professional competency in spoken and written English; familiar with USAID procedures and regulations is an advantage; willing to work and travel intensively and extensively in the field; and demonstrated ability to play collegial and leadership roles working on multi-disciplinary teams. University degree in related field required.
