IFES is an international, nonprofit organization that supports the building of democratic societies. IFES promotes democratic stability by providing technical assistance and applying field-based research to the electoral cycle in countries around the world to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil society, governance and transparency. Founded in 1987 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, IFES has developed and implemented comprehensive, collaborative solutions in more than 120 countries. IFES is currently seeking a Program Officer to help project implementation in IFES Indonesia.

Job Responsibilities:The Program Officer will be responsible for the following tasks and activities:
  • Coordinate and oversee the implementation of gender-related programming by IFES and its partners; 
  • Support and assist IFES’ international experts/consultants in implementing IFES’ gender-related activities in Indonesia; 
  • Proactively seek out ways to assist electoral partner organizations in all areas related to the conduct of elections; 
  • Undertake research and write reports on issues related to the conduct of elections, based on IFES experience and/or international best practice; 
  • Liaise closely with members and officials of Indonesia’s civil society actors, and partner organizations within the public and private sectors, and electoral institutions to support ongoing working relationships; 
  • Coordinate the planning, administration and logistics for special events undertaken by IFES in the area of election management trainings, workshops or other events; 
  • Assist with the translation of technical documents from Bahasa Indonesia to English (and vice versa) in standard electoral wording, as required; 
  • Report regularly on project activities to the Head of Program, the Deputy Chief of Party and the Chief of Party; 
  • Compile and review bi-weekly reports for donors, partners and internal purposes; 
  • Undertake such as other duties as may be requested/directed from time to time; and 
  • Travel as required;
Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in an international environment, ideally with significant experience in implementing democratic development projects and international program management; 
  • Previous experience working on gender related issues strongly preferred; 
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and oral; 
  • A high level of self-motivation and ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced environment; 
  • Strong analytical and writing skills; 
  • Ability to take initiative and work within tight deadlines; 
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Internet) required; 
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to make independent decisions; and 
  • A degree in political science or related field is an advantage.
