FINANCE MANAGER

Position:  Finance Manager, the Samdhana Institute.
Reports to: Deputy Director

Location: Bogor, Indonesia.

Duration and Working Hours: Full time, 08.00 – 17.00

Effective Date: Soon as Possible

Main Functions:
The Incumbent shall assist the Deputy Director  in the stewardship of the financial resources of the organization. The finance manager shall coordinate with the Program Director and Grant Managers and supervise by the Deputy Director in maintaining a transparent and credible financial management.

Specific tasks:
a) Prepares the organization annual budget for Board approval;
b) Prepares the budget for proposals to be submitted to potential funding partners;
c) Prepares the draft Financial report of the Organization (Balance Sheet and Income Statement) – by funding partners;
d) Prepares Financial Report reporting to funding partners
e) Prepares the monthly variances report (budget vs. actual expense);
f) Prepares monthly Project Fund Balance
g) Prepares monthly status of Grants Funds to the Executive Director copy furnished the Deputy Director, and the Program Manager;
h) Prepares organization Annual Financial Report.
i) Reviews the monthly payroll schedule;
j) Reviews the Bank Reconciliation Statements;
k) Reviews Official Receipts prepared by the Disbursing Officer;
l) Assists the Deputy Director in managing the Samdhana Retreat Center fundraising project and accountabilities;
m) Monitors the collection of the membership fees of Samdhana Fellows;
n) Ensures the bidding process is in place for the purchase of furniture, fixtures and equipment;
o) Ensures compliance with the legal requirements (tax, reports, licenses, permits, etc.) of governmental agencies;
p) Supervises the tasks of the Disbursing Officer;
q) In charge of external auditor;
r) Assists in secretariat supports;
s) Attends Samdhana meetings;
t) Monitors and Enforces the implementation of office finance policies and procedures;
u) Performs other tasks that the Executive Director, and Deputy Director shall assign from time to time;
v) Ensures of efficient and retrievable finance filling system;
w) Assists the Deputy Director in communicating with funding partners;
x) Assists the Deputy Director in ensuring high interest and security of bank deposits;
y) Assist the Deputy Director in providing financial training/mentoring to partners and Philippine office
z) Reconciles the account payable and account receivable between Samdhana offices

Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or like degree.  
• A professional accounting qualification, at least ten years of hands on experience in accounting, including general ledger, cash management, financial planning, budgeting, and monitoring of grant compliance required.
• At least five years of experience managing finance  for multi donors contracts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Indonesian Financial Accounting Standards, Tax, and International Financial Reporting Standards.
• Familiarity with accounting software, especially Quick book.
• Experience with contracts, sponsor rules & regulations, and with current standards and guidelines.
• Excellent critical thinking skills and judgment.
• Proven willingness to make timely and sound decisions.
• Strong oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate, advise, and resolve issues that are complex and sensitive in nature.
• Ability to communicate effectively with persons on all levels both inside and outside the company.
• Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write in a clear, concise, well-organized manner.
• Ability to work effectively in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressure.
• Self-motivated and able to follow through to end of assignments while meeting goals and deadlines.
• Proven ability to effectively use Microsoft Office, spreadsheet, word processing, and position-specific software.
• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English, written and oral.
• Accuracy, attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and ability to sit at a computer and operate a keyboard.

a. Samdhana will offer a full benefit package of remuneration
b. Three months probationary period, continued with one year working contract after a satisfactory assessment
c. Duty station will be in Bogor, Indonesia.
