Duration : Initial contract for 3 months with possibility of extension,
subject to satisfactory Performance Report and Medical
Fitness Results.
Annual Salary : starting from IDR 113.535.000 (including Medical Allowance)
Closing Date : 09 October 2015

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant and overall supervision of the Refugee Status Determination (RSD) Officer and Senior Protection Officer, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
  • Interpret and/or translate from newspapers, written reports, magazines, etc.; 
  • Interpret oral conversations, discussions, and interviews;
  • Undertake the registration process for new asylum seekers;
  • Travel on missions to field locations for interpretation and other assistance, as needed;
  • Respond to queries relating to the area of responsibility; 
  • Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Minimum completion of secondary education with certification, but preferably a university degree in Interpretation/Translation, Language, Business Administration, Secretarial Work, or other related field.

Experience: Three (3) years’ of experience in relevant work area. Experience working in a multi-cultural environment or international context is an added asset.

Nationality: Citizen of Indonesia; non-citizen with Indonesian permanent residence.

Languages: Excellent knowledge of English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and spoken) and fluency in one of the following languages: Farsi, Arabic, Somali, Mandarin, Oromo, Amharic, or Tamil.

Desirable Skills in: Interpretation/translation; communication; computers; good knowledge of UNHCR’s work; ability to work effectively in a team.

  • With External Parties: Persons of concern, NGOs, local authorities, etc.
