PURPOSE OF THIS CONSULTANCY:
Selected Consultant is expected to conduct the following main tasks (but not limited to):

- Develop an eco-tourism strategy for the contiguous SLP landscape (3 districts of Mandailing Natal, South Tapanuli and North Tapanuli) and linked to the North Sumatera province-national ecotourism plan. This strategy should also include strategic planning and analysis, and be linked to the SIAP outcomes prepared with support from SLP;
- Support the development of eco-tourism business models and setting up public-private partnerships around these models;
- Identify and support the provision of convenient viewing platforms for tourists in BGNP and identify other strategies to enhance visitor experiences and tourism potential (e.g. signage and the construction of other visitor infrastructure,
- Engage with tourist-operators from Padang (West Sumatra) to encourage tourist-buses to stop by at designated sites, and
- Engage with provincial tourism agencies and prospective eco-tourism enterprises interested in investing in eco-tourism activities.
Level of Effort:
This consultancy is expected to be completed by combination of field observation, interview with stakeholders, consultation with SLP Management and Technical Managers, report writing and presentation. All these efforts are estimated to take 60-75 working days in which the selected consultant have flexibility to manage around expected contract period between October - December, 2015.
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- 10 years’ experience in the tourism and ecotourism sector, particularly in places of high biodiversity value, and demonstrated understanding of the role ecotourism plays in supporting biodiversity conservation and generating income for local communities.
- Proven knowledge and experience in conducting ecotourism feasibility studies, market valuations, and developing ecotourism promotional materials that result in on-ground impacts.
- Ability to work and travel independently to the study sites to undertake assessments and engage with stakeholders.
- Have a very high standard of written English and Bahasa.
