Junior Consultants for Dairy Project in Malang

SNV is an international not-for-profit development organization that works in 38 of the poorest countries around the world covering water and sanitation, agriculture and energy. In agriculture, SNV works with smallholder farmers, pastoralists, forest-dependent communities and companies to provide innovative, market-based solutions to the issues of sustainable markets, food security and climate change.
To contribute to the development of a vibrant dairy sector in Indonesia which is centralized in Java island, SNV Indonesia will have partnership with private partners to implement some technologies to improve practice in the core aspect in dairy to increase milk production, milk quality and safety and green milk for eco friendly practices.

Unit Description of goods or services
Deliverables Time line
1 Lead daily activities at district level with local stakeholders
Monthly report and quarter report 70 days
2 Field research for dairy proposal development
Field report 20 days
3 Coordination meeting with project coordinator and manager
Minutes of meeting 10 days
Responsibilities
- Under supervision of the dairy project coordinator, the field officers carry out activities for the SNV-dairy project
- Work supporting the development of the dairy sector in Indonesia
- Support baseline studies, market assessments and value chain analysis of the local dairy economy
- maintain effective partnerships with local stakeholders including farmers, the private sector partner, governement and others
- Conduct field research and provide information and data necessary for reporting the project.
- Prepare project progress reports and project references
- Assist in training & workshop for dairy project
- Writing monthly and quarterly Report directly to the dairy project coordinator and cc to project manager
- Support SNV's work more broadly as required
Duty Station
The Consultant will be based in Malang.
Selection Criteria * A diploma in animal husbandry, agriculture, economics, agricultural economics, agribusiness, business management or other relevant discipline
* A minimum of 3 years of experience working in value chain development in Indonesia or farmer training, preferably with livestock
* Results orientated with an entrepreneurial attitude
* Experience in developing marketing for farmer products
* Some communication skills in English
* Proven experience in report writing and monitoring and evaluation
* Having experiences works with NGO for rural livelihood projects
* Originally from the district target is an advantage
* Willing to stay in the district target
* Willing to travel if needed
* Willing to work with minimum supervision
Contract Duration
The consultant contract will start as soon as possible and ending on 30 November 2015.
