Rainforest Alliance Job Vacancy: Finance Associate - Bali

Position Summary:
The Finance Associate will provide financial and administrative oversight of Rainforest Alliance’s Millennium Challenge Account-funded project in Indonesia: Cocoa Revolution - High Yielding Climate-Smart Cocoa Farms. The position will ensure compliance with finance, contracts and administrative requirements as established by Rainforest Alliance Headquarters (HQ) and MCA-I.

The position works under the supervision of the Project Manager and coordinates closely with the Finance Manager, as well as with the Contract and Grant Administration and other Rainforest Alliance units.  
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare all project financial reports to MCA-I in the formats specified in Rainforest Alliance’s contractual agreements; ensures reports conform to their terms and uploads in their system; 
  • Process all invoices to MCA-I and tracks incoming project funds;
  • In coordination with the Project Manager, respond to ad hoc MCA-I requests for financial information or project metrics;
  • Serve as the main point of contact for MCA-I’s (3rd party) project financial auditors;
  • Work closely with Rainforest Alliance’s Assistant Accountant for the MCA-I project to help keep track of all relevant financial documents and data so it can be readily accessed when needed by Rainforest Alliance management, MCA-I or the project auditors;
  • Ensure that project activities are carried out in accordance with the restrictions and requirements of MCA-I and Rainforest Alliance, such as procurement requirements, travel guidelines, etc;
  • Participate in Rainforest Alliance’s annual fiscal year budgeting processes as it pertains to MCA-I;
  • Update, amend or revise the MCA-I project budget as requested by MCA-I or project management;
  • Provide financial data analysis on burn rates and projected expenses on a quarterly basis;
  • Monitor expenses and revenues to ensure that the MCA-I project does not overspend available revenue and that restricted funds are used according to donor requirements;
  • Maintain a monthly project pipeline to track expenses and cash flow;
  • Manage preparation and tracking of project contractual agreements using appropriate Rainforest Alliance’s templates and in accordance with organizational procedures and donor requirements; coordinate with project staff in negotiation of consulting contracts, subcontracts, sub-agreements and other contractual agreements, involving program staff,  Finance and Legal departments as required;
  • Organize and maintain records on project information and materials;
  • Maintain regular contact with the Financial Manager for technical support & guidance; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors, Licentiate or master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Accounting or related area; 
  • Experience in project/grant-based accounting techniques & reporting;
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in financial and budgetary management, with two years of experience in multilateral administrative donations/contracts, and project or business management. Experience in the supervision of administrative and financial functions is imperative;
  • Strong analytical skills. Capacity to work independently on complex financial reports, managing multiple sets of data;
  • Ability to apply good judgment and show initiative;
  • Fluent written and spoken Bahasa and English;
  • Excellent abilities in the use of tools for word processing, electronic spreadsheets and computer programs;
  • Excellent organizational skills, capacity to work independently and as part of a team, analyze priorities, and multi-task with strong attention to detail;
  • Experience working on complex financial reports and managing several components of data;
  • Experience with Dynamics, Crystal Reports or similar accounting/reporting systems helpful;
  • Familiarity with financial data queries & general ledgers preferred; and
  • Willing to travel up to 5% of the time (mostly within Indonesia).
