Business Development Consultant for Cassava Chips
Background
SNV
is an international NGO that works in 38 of the poorest countries
around the world. The SNV Indonesia office is based in Jakarta. In its
agriculture projects, SNV works with smallholder farmers, pastoralists,
forest-dependent communities and companies to provide innovative,
market-based solutions to the issues of sustainable markets, food
security and climate change. SNV Indonesia, is the co-facilitator for the Australian Aid-PRISMA program and implements a cassava based intervention based in Atambua, TTU. The aim is to increase the use of dried cassava chip for use as raw material for animal feed, especially for pigs.
In this project, SNV works together with PSE Keuskupan Atambua. PSE
Keuskupan Atambua, consists of 60 paroki with potential involved
farmers reaches at least 12,000 farmers. This PSE Keuskupan Atambua has
several production units including briks, tile, and paving production,
furniture production and motorcycle service, and truck rent. The PSE
Keuskupan Atambua is interested to develop animal feed miller business
because seing the opportunity where there is limited product in the
market and the animal population in NTT is growing mainly pig, cattle,
broiler and catfish. There are local raw materials available such as
maize, fishmeal, cassava chips and leaves, and rice brands. The animal
feed produced will be competitive in the market due to no inter island
transport cost for both raw materials and products.
SNV
is looking for a business development consultant to support PSE
Keuskupan to properly planning the business of animal feed production.
This includes evaluating the needed cash flow, estimation of costs and
profit, develop a marketing strategy as well as coaching the new
business in its first semester of operation.
The consultant will travel and work in Atambua for a limited time to work directly with PSE Keuskupan Atambua.

Required skills
- Degree in economics, agribusiness, socioeconomics in agriculture or animal science.
- Experience in facilitating the development of small-medium enterprises in agriculture production
- Understanding of the animal feed business.
- Experience in advising or working in private companies in financial evaluations.
- Willing to travel and work in Atambua.
- Able to write and report in English.
