GIZ Vacancy: National Intern for GIZ - PAKLIM II Project - Surakarta & Pekalongan

Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is the German International Cooperation implementing sustainable development on behalf of the German Government. PAKLIM (Policy Advice for Environment and Climate Change) is an Indonesian – German Cooperation Programme aims to provide proven models and structures for the implementation and dissemination of mitigation and adaptation measures supporting the national and local governments, industry, and civil society organizations. PAKLIM program is divided into three working areas: (1) Climate Policy Advice for National and Sub-national Governments, (2) GHG emission reduction in Industries, and (3) Climate Change and Education.

PAKLIM Working Area 1 in the Sub-national governments provide technical advisory services in the following are
  • Development, evaluation, and revision of climate change strategies
  • Improvement of local governments and service providers capacity on climate change related issues
  • Improvement of climate financing access to implement climate strategies
  • Monitoring, reporting and evaluation of climate change mitigation and adaptation implementation
  • Dissemination of best practices and strategies
PAKLIM is planning to integrate international and national internship program to foster the implementation of local climate strategies and the pilot test of climate financing in the city of Surakarta and Pekalongan. Therefore the national internship will be located in Surakarta and Pekalongan. 
A.     Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for:
  • Maintenance of communication and information flow between PAKLIM, the cities, and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Facilitate International Interns in performing their duties
  • communication and information flow between PAKLIM, the cities, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Support to the preparation of cities project monitoring, evaluation, and report
  • Support the knowledege management of the project by maintaining the projects output database and manage content dissemination through the project’s website
B.     Tasks
1.     Maintenance of communication and information flow
Communicate with relevant counterpart regarding project planning and progress Participate in the planning and coordination event

2.     Facilitate International Internship Program
  • Preparing climate assessment in selected kampong.
  • Preparing analysis of potential improvement regarding mitigation and adaptation measurement
  • Explore alternative of mitigation and adaptation measures
  • Motivate local stakeholders and International Internship Participants to select the prioritized climate actions
  • Preparing action plan report for kampong improvement
  • Preparing proposal for implementation of kampong action plan
  • Support local stakeholder and International Interns to seek and access external funding sources
3.     Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
  • Monitor the implementation of activity plan in the city
  • Documenting the implementation of activity in the city
  • Contribute to monthly activity report
4.     Knowledge Management
  • Write article or news to project newsletter or website
5.     Other Duties
  • Supporting and organizing events 
 C.      Required qualifications, competences and experience
Formal Education
·    University degree (Msc./Bsc.) in relevant scientific field (i.e. Civil, Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning,
     Social Sciences such as sociology, public administration and communication)
·       Excellent speaking and writing in English and Javanese
·       Excellent communication, presentation and reporting skill
·       Professional working experiences in climate change research and implementation
Other Qualifications
·       Comfortable working in a team or independently and high self-motivation
·       Eager to learn new things, flexible, creative and have strong initiative
·       Strong analytical and good interpersonal skills
·       Excellent command of MS – Office applications
