Currently we are searching for qualified candidates to fill the position of:

Head of Strategic Conservation & Development

The Head of Strategic Conservation & Development provides strategic, technical and scientific leadership in the design, planning and execution of effective programs within the Indonesia Program.

S/he will work closely with the Indonesia Leadership Team members (ILTs) and senior managers to deliver upon business transformational initiatives.

As an internal expert, s/he will drive the planning, analysis, implementation and execution of multiple, highly complex projects.  S/he will support the application of systematic planning for all programs that includes use of clear measures, monitoring, and adaptive management approaches.  S/he will support the design of effective leverage strategies and support the processes of capturing learning from program implementation and applying results.

The Head of Strategic Conservation & Development will contribute in strategic development through supporting the development and implementation of the programs strategic initiatives and help address funding gaps through international and national fundraising from both private and public sources.  S/he will deliver excellent reporting and clear/concise communication to key stakeholders both within and across the organization to ensure successful project completion. 

Tasks include:
  • Develops project overviews and monitors project schedules within the defined standard project management system.  Keeps management (Country Director and ILTs) advised on project progress, potential issues, obstacles, conflicts and challenges.
  • Designs long and short range business goals and objectives as well as development strategies for the Programs within the organization.
  • Maintains quality standards throughout projects.
  • Gathers lessons learned with project teams to review project success and areas requiring improvement for future projects and services.
  • Prioritizes programs and projects based on business strategies, dynamic business needs, resource capacity, risk exposure, and their interdependencies.
  • Implements and utilize metrics to assess and measure key strategies, to identify/mitigate risks, leading to informed decisions that maximized returns across projects and programs. 
  • Provide periodic (bi-weekly and/or as requested) management dashboard with analysis and recommendations to ILTs.
  • Creates, demonstrates and continuous improvement of online conservation and business measurement for internal and external use.
  • Manages due dates, database updates to enable periodic reporting to donors.
  • Feeds information to fundraisers (corporate philanthropy, marketing) on the gap of funding.
  • Advises the Country Director for allocating fundraising needs to the team
  • Provides fundraising effectiveness monitoring, analysis and recommendations.
  • Coordinating and manage all reporting to donors and Ministry.
  • Work within a program development and measurement team to ensure leveraged activities and resourcing to ensure maximal organizational efficiency.
  • Partner with ILTs and senior managers to ensure clarity of strategy and focus of projects.
  • Derive business recommendations and drive decisions.
  • Work with HR to identify conservation staff gaps and capacity development.
The Head of Strategic Conservation & Development reports to the Indonesia Program Country Director and is based in Jakarta.

Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years related experience, including 2 years in process management.  A master’s degree may be preferred. 
  • Experience developing and managing multiple cross-functional projects.
  • Experience with organizational change management principles and techniques. 
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across multiple organizational levels.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles, practices, and procedures of relevant field. 
  • 3 or more years of project management experience, ideally directing process initiatives in both short and long lifecycles. 
  • Ability to make strategic decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment. 
  • Ability to train on and direct complex processes and procedures. 
  • Ability to work in partnership with all levels of staff in a collaborative or advisory role to champion process-focused initiatives and implement plans to transition the organization to an improved state. 
  • Advanced knowledge current and evolving trends in business process and organizational change management.
  • Effectively communicates via presentations, conversations, and documents.
  • Expert knowledge of current and evolving technology and tools related to business process management. 
  • Proficiency in synthesizing complex data from multiple sources into a coherent and accurate summary.
  • Supervisory experience including setting objectives and managing performance, including conflict resolution.
