UNESCO Vacancy: Anti Encroachment Best Practices In Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra

UNESCO Jakarta is now looking for a committed junior consultant to develop materials for workshop and training as well as delivering training on anti encroachment best practices in Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra (TRHS).

UNESCO will implement anti encroachment best practices in the pilot site using the recommendation suitable methods of the Anti-Encroachment Analysis  that have taken place in three national parks under the TRHS; Gunung Leuser, Bukit Barisan Selatan, and Kerinci Seblat, The activity is expected to support the effort in resolving the encroachment issue in TRHS, and contributing the integrity of TRHS, with the ultimate goal of assisting in the removal of the TRHS from the World Heritage in Danger list. 

Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to develop materials for workshop and training as well as delivering the training of anti encroachment best practices in Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra (TRHS).

Duty and Task
In close consultation and coordination with UNESCO, as well as the Task Force and partner on Anti-Encroachment the consultant will be responsible for carrying out a series of tasks including:
  • Synthesis of the project findings (a reports around 20 pages) to be prepared before (this will be printed and distributed as a work book during the May workshop); 
  • Prepare training material and organise one day training; 
  • Update workshop program including two days workshop and one day training; 
  • Delivery of workshop and final report; 
  • Working in UNESCO office Jakarta
Eligibility/qualification/experience requirements
The main requirements for the applicants are:
  • Master degree preferably in natural science management or social science related to ecology, sustainable development, ecotourism, and/or natural resource management; 
  • Proven experience in delivering training; 
  • Knowledge of Indonesian and English;
  • Extensive experience in writing training materials;
  • Good knowledge in anti encroachment issues ;
  • Experience in TRHS and working with UNESCO will be an asset 
Duration and Deliverables
Contract duration will be 4 months (March-June 2015). He/she should deliver training materials, synthesis report and final report on anti encroachment in Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra (bahasa and English).
