Swisscontact promotes economic,
social and ecological development by supporting people to successfully

enable access to professional training, promotes local entrepreneurship,

Swisscontact is active in 29
countries and has some 750 employees. The organization is based in Zurich.
The
SCPP project is a large Public Private Partnership (“PPP”) in Indonesia which
was established in January 2012. The Project is financed by the Swiss
Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO, The Sustainable Trade Initiative IDH,
the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and five Private Sector
Companies from the cocoa sector for the duration from 2012 – 2015. The Program
works directly with 60,000 cocoa farming households in six Indonesian Provinces
to improve farm productivity and livelihood conditions.
As
the Program is continuously growing and SCPP is determined to deliver high
quality output achievements and simultaneously reviews interventions, training
manuals, and teaching material, the program identifies the need to add a
specific unit to undertake research, content development, and intervention
design and provide supports to the program implementation unit.
For our Sustainable Cocoa
Production Program (SCPP) in Indonesia, we are looking for :
Research and Content Manager for Agriculture and Certification Manager
Begin of Employment : February 2015 or as agreed
Place of Duty : 1 person – Jakarta, Indonesia.
Task, Authority, and Responsibility
Technical Advisory:
- Review and, when necessary, revise SCPP’s training modules and materials and implementation approaches;
- Develop new approaches and methods for standardized cocoa demonstration plots;
- Design farmer training which is applicable and measurable to enrich the program implementation;
- Ensure dissemination of new modules and teaching material to the program implementation team with purpose to ensure consistent approaches are utilized across all SCPP areas;
- Provide trainings or capacity building activities in order to improve technical capacity of program implementation team in topics related to Good Agriculture Practice (GAP), farmer organization, and certification;
- Facilitate training for master trainer and extension officers in GAP, farmer organization and certification;
- Advise on best practices methodology for farmer training to improve the program implementation;
- Provide relevant information to Voluntary Certification Standards and become the point of reference for overall SCPP implementation in establishment of Internal Control Systems (ICS).
Lessons Learned and Best Practices:
- Collect and analyze information related to GAP, farmer organization, and certification to ensure program’s awareness of the latest trends in the sector;
- Based on research activity, periodically develop learning and lessons learnt publication such as article, brief, case studies, manuals, etc.;
- Identify, assess, prepare and monitor the implementation of related agriculture techniques and policies in the sector;
- In coordination with PR and Media Manager, develop content for communication materials related GAP, farmer organization, and certification such as posters, flipcharts, brochure, flyer, etc.;
- Contribute to the preparation of presentations, speeches and papers, etc.
Knowledge Sharing:
- Support the program implementation team to ensure GAP and Certification activities are well planned, monitored and evaluated with purpose to align SCPP practice with the state of the art the topics.
- Participate and contribute in workshops and conferences on the cocoa agricultural sector and other activities for advocacy, dissemination and knowledge sharing.
- Establish and maintain effective coordination with Government of Indonesia (GoI), international institutions, private sectors, and other stakeholders.
Project Management:
- Prepare concept documents and review term of references and reports;
- Perform other duties assigned by line manager and Program Director.
Skills/knowledge
- Master degree in Agriculture or related subjects from an accredited academic institution
Requirements
- At least 10 years or more of professional work experience in agriculture extension services. Experience in Cocoa is highly preferred;
- Familiar with Certifications of agriculture commodities;
- Experience in working with international NGO program/project implementation;
- Experience in working and/or liaising with the communities and various partners, and institutions;
- Research experience (preferably proof of some peer reviewed published work)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to effectively interact and collaborate with people/stakeholders;
- Good in personal organization, planning and priority setting. Excellent at taking initiatives, focused and result oriented;
- Strong attention to detail and to maintaining a high quality standard;
- Demonstrated flexibility and capable of managing a variety of tasks with minimal supervision;
- Experience in designing and facilitating meetings and workshops Strong proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia and English
