Job Vacancies at Swisscontact WISATA Bali and Flores

Swisscontact, the Swiss non-profit organisation engaged in co-operation for private sector development, will implement the Regional Tourism Development Program WISATA Phase II as part of the Indonesian Swiss Development Cooperation. The program aims at increasing competitiveness of selected tourism destination in order to create income and job opportunities for the local population in the tourism sector.

Open Position 
Swisscontact is looking for enthusiastic and independent professionals to support the project office in Bali and Flores in the following field of expertise: 

General requirements: 
  • Indonesian national 
  • Team player with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, good network, strong interpersonal skill, pro-active, assertiveness
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar position
  • University degree in relevant field of study (those lacking the stated educational requirements but having an excellent track record are encouraged to apply);
  • Interest in development work and eco-tourism;
  • Good command of written and spoken English, excellent computer skills (MS office)
  • Excellent work ethic, self-starter and flexibility in schedule, willingness to work in remote areas
Component Manager for Education and Training in Bali

Main task: By leading a small team of professionals in Bali and in cooperation with the project field teams in four target destinations support the implementation of competence improvement activities in three areas: 
  • To implement a skills improvement concept for tourism businesses by working together with local associations and professionals 
  • Strengthen local vocational tourism schools (SMK) to adjust and apply a hospitality training curriculum meeting the industrys needs
  • To assist the three academic institution STP Bandung, STP Bali and AKPAR Makassar in the field of destination management through curriculum development and competence improvement of faculty members through visiting scholars/guest lecturers and staff/student exchanges;
  • To introduce a scholarships program for talented SMK graduates from the supported destinations,
Requirements: Experience of at least 5 years in Education and Training, if possible in the tourism sector, project management and team leadership, organizational development, planning and reporting, mastering in English; Ability to manage multiple interventions; Experience in dealing with local and national government authorities.

Program Officer for Community Development in Flores

Main task: Assist local communities in Flores, NTT to introduce and offer community based tourism (CBT) to visitors by strengthening their internal organisation, introducing new services in their cultural environment to be offered to the tourism sector; strengthen local farmer groups and handicrafts producers through capacity building to improve the variety and quality of their products and link them to the local tourism market.

Requirements: At least 5 years experiences in development work with communities (farmer groups, cultural villages), strong interpersonal skills, pro-active, assertiveness, willingness to work in remote areas.
