Scriptwriter for SLP 

The Sustainable Landscapes Partnership (SLP) is an innovative public-private partnership in Indonesia that brings governments, communities, businesses, and non-governmental organizations together to develop and test new approaches to land use planning and management.  It is aimed at creating sustainable agricultural economic opportunities, while maintaining natural capital and avoiding deforestation and associated greenhouse gas emissions.

PURPOSE OF THIS CONSULTANCY
SLP solutions focus on smart land use planning, improved forest management, sustainable agricultural production and green supply chains. SLP provides information and tools that partners use to make informed decisions. SLP also facilitates agreements among partners and works with them to develop and test targeted interventions. To achieve maximum impact and ensure long-term change, SLP helps partners to align these interventions with existing policies and processes at local, provincial and national levels. SLP then catalyzes replication and amplification through grants, training and toolkits. 
OBJECTIVES OF THIS CONSULTANCY 
SLP requires a consultant or subcontractor to develop a series of scripts for sermons in churches and mosques as well as for radio shows in Mandailing Natal, South Tapanuli and North Tapanuli.

The objectives of these scripts are:
  • To increase the awareness of SLP’s key messages of sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, natural capital protection, and green supply chains through familiar medium among local communities;
  • To inspire people of various ages to get involved in environmental protection activities; 
  • To engage community and religious thought leaders about environmental issues in their community and give them pointers on calls to action that their listeners can discuss and act upon .
Deliverables
  • Draft and final versions of 5 sermon scripts each for Muslim and Christian platforms, minimum 800- 1000 words, with relevant scripture passages and quotes, carrying SLP Key Messages 
  • Draft and final versions of 5 radio PSAs 30-60 seconds in length, carrying SLP Key Messages 
  • Draft and final versions of speaking notes for 10 radio adlibs, carrying SLP Key Messages 
  • Draft and final versions of a media placement plan for sermon and radio broadcasts and list of contact information of key religious figures and radio stations in Tapsel, Madina and Taput 
  • GPS points of churches and mosques which participate in this activity (in coordination with SLP GIS team) 
  • 1 day field visit to SLP’s working area, in coordination with CI Team, including agenda, participants list, and coordinating logistics. 
  • Final report with final versions of 5 sermon scripts(each for Muslim and Christian), text for 5 radio PSAs and 10 radio adlibs, media placement plan and contact list, GPS points of mosques/churches, agenda and participant’s list and photos for field visit, and quantitative summary of number of sermons given using SLP materials, size of audience reached in specific churches/mosques and demographics of audience, audiotapes of sermons and radio broadcasts, etc.;
LEVEL OF EFFORT 
This consultancy will take place for a 3-month period between January 5, 2015 and March 31, 2015, and will require travel to the SLP field sites in North Sumatera. 

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years experiences in developing script for Public Service Announcements (PSA). 
  • Familiar working with NGO/Donor organization. 
  • Strong concept in interactive and public events 
  • Good knowledge and understanding in Batak/Mandailing culture. 
  • Fluency in Indonesia and English (required). 
  • Available during the period of service. 
  • Based in Jakarta or Medan and willing to travel and work in SLP field sites in North Sumatera.
