World Agroforestry Centre Vacancy: LUMENS User Interface Designer Based In Bogor

About our organization
The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry or ICRAF) is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.

The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and research is conducted in 34 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We are supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.
 
About the position
LUMENS User Interface Designer will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of ecologists, ecological modellers, land use planning specialists, land scientists, economists, and social scientists to design visual appearance of graphical user interface for Land Use Planning for Multiple Environmental Services (LUMENS). He/she will work under a close collaboration with relevant scientists and other potential users. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
LUMENS User Interface Designer will be responsible in designing visual appearance of LUMENS graphical user interface for analytical modules. This will include:
  • Developing initial wireframe of the user interface through close collaboration with LUMENS core-programmer team 
  • Designing visual appearance of the graphical user interface 
  • Test the usability of the design through discussion with LUMENS core programmer and potential user

Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma degree in digital art or graphic design.
  • Experiences in designing graphical user interface design.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Have a skill in communication among different levels of stakeholders.
  • Able to work independently as well as being a team player. 
  • Well organized; able to meet deadlines. 
  • Good English command (passive English). 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in multicultural teams.
