Greenpeace in Southeast Asia
Greenpeace opened our first office in Southeast Asia in 2000. In that time we have led successful campaigns throughout the region, securing fresher air, cleaner water and a healthier environment through changing industry practices and government policies. Greenpeace actively campaigns across the region to catalyze an energy revolution, protect ancient forests and our oceans, create a toxics-free future and create a shift to sustainable agriculture.

Greenpeace has three offices in Southeast Asia (GPSEA) —in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines and each office is currently composed of six departments: Campaigns, Fundraising, Communications, Mass Mobilization ( all under Programme), Human Resources and Organizational Support (under Operations).  Currently, Greenpeace Southeast Asia employs nearly 200 staff across the region, excluding the direct dialogue fundraisers.

THE POST:  LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
AND LEADERSHIP TRAINER

Job Summary:
Reporting to the HR Director, the Learning Manager and Leadership Trainer’s key responsibility is to ensure GPSEA People are fully trained and can do their job effectively, building on existing skills and knowledge and providing new skills and knowledge. 

Key elements of the position will include:

Regional Learning Capability:
  • Needs based Curriculum development
  • Training / Learning material development
  • Training /Learning coordination and execution
  • Development of centers of expertise inclusive of coaching and mentoring
  • Communication and promotion of the Learning curriculum
  • Monitoring of the key performance indicators
Future Leaders Programme (FLP):
  • Support the development and execution
  • Marketing and Communication
  • Coaching
KEY DUTIES
  • Develop a Learning Needs Assessment process that allows the Learning and Development  Manager and Leadership Trainer to set the training objectives and curriculum determining what needs to be done and why.  The assessment will include proficiency levels in desirable organizational competencies and skills. 
  • Develop a Learning Curriculum which outlines the learning experience provided by GPSEA.  The Learning Curriculum is to be aligned with the Learning Needs Assessment and the Organizational vision and objectives.  Significant planning, administration, coordination and networking is required to execute a dynamic Learning Curriculum. 
  • Research and integration of leading practice Learning and Training strategies and methodologies to ensure maximum effect and efficiency.  The Learning and Development Manager and  Leadership Trainer is responsible for understanding contemporary leading practice and theory in learning needs analysis, curriculums, learning delivery methodologies and learning integration into the organization especially in regards to desired behaviors. 
  • Provide effective communication and coordination, The Learning and Development  Manager and Leadership Trainer will need to communicate the Learning curriculum in a manner that is transparent and timely and will respond to all Learning queries and suggestions the organization provides.  The Learning and Development  Manager and Leadership Trainer will need to build effective working relationships and liaison with internal GPSEA staff, GPI and external agencies when necessary.  The role will be the key and focal contact point for all Learning and Training related information and development in GPSEA for internal staff and worldwide GP offices. 
  • Develop Learning and Training material when required that is of high standard and aligned with organizational expectations. 
  • Execute Learning courses as instructor and/or facilitator when required ensuring the delivery is of high standard and aligned with organizational expectations. 
  • Develop sustainable and value add Learning solutions to increase the impact and relevance of the Learning curriculum in GPSEA.  Solutions may vary depending on course and the desired behaviors and skills.  Solutions may include coaching and mentoring programs, centers of expertise and/or committees to explore how to integrate the Learning into GPSEA operations or more effective communication. 
  • Develop, monitor and report key performance indicators that effectively measure the Learning satisfaction and application in GPSEA.  The Learning indicators may include Learning Evaluation surveys, general feedback, impact and application, cost, course delivery to schedule, # of participants, etc… 
  • Coach, manage and support the execution of the Future Leaders Program (FLP) to enable effective support selection process in the region, coaching of candidates and the administration logistics of the training and support of the FLP tandem partners and mentors on a global basis 
  • Support the Marketing and Promotion of the FLP in the region to ensure effective program utilization 
  • Co-facilitate the FLP training execution

Desirable Experience and Skills
  • Understanding of, and experience in, Southeast Asia, preferably with INGO or campaigning organisations with the ability to work in culturally and geographically diverse environments
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and fluency in English, at least one other relevant regional language preferred 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience with demonstrated results in developing and executing Learning strategies and / or courses
  • At least 2 years of project management experience with demonstrated results in defining and executing project planning and delivery

WORKING HOURS
Normal hours of work for full time Employee will be forty (40) per week or (5) days in a week, at 8 hours per day excluding an hour lunch break. This will be from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am to 6: 30 pm. Ordinary hours of work may be varied as agreed between staff and the line managers.

LEAVE
  • A permanent employee will be entitled to the following leaves:
  • Annual Leave: 20 days
  • Parental Leave:  As per labor laws and Greenpeace policy
  • Long Service Leave: 2 months paid leave after 5 years of continuous service
  • Compassionate leave: maximum of 5 days for the death of significant others
SALARY
In determining salary offer for this position, Greenpeace applies its Salary Grading Process, taking into consideration the job description and applicant’s previous experience, and the organization’s salary grade.
