Director of Programs
Center for Public Policy Transformation
Summary
The
Director of Programs will take overall responsibility for Transformasi’s training
and research programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, he or she will
manage separate teams responsible for research and training activities. Many of
these activities will be conducted by or in collaboration with international and
domestic partner institutions. The Program will therefore place a strong
emphasis on building and sustaining Transformasi’s institutional relationships.
The Program Director will oversee Transformasi’s grant-making programs to
domestic and international policy research organizations, and create and manage
programs to build capacity among domestic partners. He or she will cooperate
with international and national partner institutions to deliver executive
education and policy dialogue programs to government counterparts.
Transformasi
The
Center for Public Policy Transformation, or Transformasi, was established in
2013 with support from the Rajawali Foundation. Transformasi’s mission is to
promote evidence-based policy research and training. The center is envisioned
as a “networked think tank” working in collaboration with domestic and
international partners to bridge the gap between researchers and policy makers.
A related goal is to improve the quality of policy studies in Indonesia through
scholarships, workshops and competitive research grants.
Transformasi
is an independent, non-profit foundation incorporated under Indonesian law.
Main Responsibilities
- Build Transformasi’s internal research and training teams, including staff recruitment and training.
- Collaborate with institutional partners to design and implement competitive, demand-driven policy research grant-making programs, including the identification of topics, selection procedures, monitoring and evaluation, peer review of dissemination.
- Collaborate with local and central government officials to identify research needs and to translate these needs into viable research projects to be implemented by the Center or the Center’s domestic and international partners.
- Develop and implement programs to build the research capacity of domestic partners, including training and workshops in research methodology, action research, grant proposal writing and the presentation skills.
- Coordinate with domestic and international partners to deliver executive education programs in Indonesia.
- Work with domestic and international partners to deliver policy dialogue programs with policy makers at the central and regional levels.
- Collaborate with policy makers and the central government and local levels to develop research projects ideas and link policy makers to international and domestic research teams.
- Work closely with the Communications Team to disseminate research results through traditional means such as working papers and publications (print and web based), but also non-traditional means including social networks, video documentaries, television, radio and podcasts.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
Minimum master degree in policy, development or related discipline
Work
Experience
Minimum 10 years in management and
program coordination roles in national research, training and development
projects and programs. Experience must include capacity building for domestic
institutions, project management, grant-making, monitoring and evaluation and
research. Experience working with government organizations, particularly
government officials at the provincial and district levels, would be an asset.
