Contracting Organization:
World Education (WE) is a US-based non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the lives of the poor through education, economic, and social development programs.  The organization has been active in Indonesia since 1991 where its programs have focused on natural resource management, agricultural support to farmers, community conservation, basic education, financial literacy assistance, and youth development.

Position Description:
World Education is seeking to hire a mid-career development professional to fill a vacancy for the position of Program Advisor. The Program Advisor (PA) will work across World Education Indonesia’s projects, providing administrative, technical, and program development support.  While the PA will support all World Education programs, particular focus will be paid to two projects, a natural resources management and livelihoods development project in Central Kalimantan, and a project in West Kalimantan, where WE provides agricultural and financial literacy training support to a partner microfinance organization.   

The ideal applicant will have a minimum of 5 years experience in development, excellent data analysis and report writing skills, and a technical specialty in at least one of the following sectors: training, civil society development, financial literacy, or natural resource management. 

Duties:
The Program Advisor will be expected to perform the following tasks:
  • Provide WE project teams in Central and West Kalimantan with administrative, technical, and partner relationship management support. 
  • Draft reports in English; translate monthly and quarterly field reports to English and edit for content.
  • Clean and analyze raw data for inclusion in project reports.
  • Draft communications materials about WE’s work in Central Kalimantan.
  • Deploy to Central and West Kalimantan periodically to monitor project progress, collect data and information, and provide feedback and support to project teams. 
  • Provide on-site technical assistance for the improvement of training quality and the regular collection of program data in West Kalimantan. 
  • Work with WE Indonesia’s senior management to support new program development.  Activities could include sector analysis, assessment of potential partners, building relationships with potential partners, attending working group meetings, and other similar tasks. 
  • Assist WE projects with research support as needed.
  • Other related tasks as determined by senior management.
Qualifications:
  • Fluency in written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Technical specialty in at least one of the following sectors: training, civil society development, financial literacy, or natural resource management.
  • Experience designing and teaching simple M&E tools or systems.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice for periods up to 1 to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate ideas clearly in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to development (Ex: Education, Economics, Agriculture, Sustainable Development, etc.) required.  Masters or additional graduate level training is preferred.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel, with knowledge of SPSS and Photoshop or CorelDraw desirable.
