UNICEF – BaKTI Partnership

Background
Based on the Country Program Action Plan between the Government of Indonesia and UNICEF, and the Annual Work Plan 2014, UNICEF agrees to co-operate with BaKTI, jointly with UNICEF Makassar office, provide support to the provincial government in identifying and addressing deficits in knowledge, training or capacity towards improving key challenges to policy implementation at the district and sub-district levels and showcasing smart practices and lessons learnt.  This partnership is continuation of 2013 Small Scale Funding Agreement.

The Eastern Indonesia Knowledge Exchange (BaKTI) encourages knowledge-based sustainable development through the exchange of experience, smart practices, information, documents and data in eastern Indonesia.

BaKTI’s goal is ‘improved development in eastern Indonesia’, and it aims to support development actors to achieve this broad goal through a focus on specific objectives:
  • Supporting development actors to colalborate and harmonize development
  • Encouraging development actors to learn from one another and share knowledge to improve the quality of development program
  • Providing media and building mechanisms so development actors are able to deliver and provide input to the development agenda
  • To facilitate the activities of UNICEF in partnership with BaKTI in the provinces of South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Maluku, North Maluku, NTT, and Papua, we are currently looking for Senior Program Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducting activities under the agreed work plan between UNICEF and BaKTI with government counterparts and CSOs specifically focusing on child issues relevant to Eastern Indonesia;
  • Conducting other Knowledge Management activities as per agreed work plan between UNICEF and BaKTI;
  • Working Closely with UNICEF and BaKTI team in making sure the agreed work plan is implemented in timely manner;
  • Preparing articles or features on the activities for BaKTINews magazine and other BaKTI's publications;
  • Developing and making sure the good quality of narrative reports (quarterly, 6 monthly and annually)
  • Supervising Program officer and Program Assistant in conducting their tasks and duties
  • Developing and maintaining a good relationship with government and CSOs counterparts of UNCIEF and BaKTI;
  • Developing and maintaining a productive relationship within BaKTI and UNICEF team;
  • Perform any other duties requested by UNICEF and BaKTI
Requirements
  • Master Degree in social development, policy, social science and/or relevant sectors.
  • At least three (5) years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as, facilitation, documentation, analysis and knowledge dissemination.
  • Sound knowledge of the Indonesian institutional system, and experience in working on decentralization is preferable.
  • Previous experience working in eastern Indonesia and with international development partners is an asset.
  • Strong experiences in facilitation activities, writing and reporting.            
  • Strong leadership and ability to work productively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Very good communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English, oral and written.
Location
The position is based in Makassar, Indonesia

Duration and Reporting
