Established in 1888 Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is one of Germany’s longest established and largest social welfare organisations. ASB entered Indonesia following the May 2006 earthquake and has established projects in emergency relief; reconstruction and training; information and outreach; disaster preparedness and livelihoods sectors. ASB is a key player in disaster risk reduction education and a regional leader in providing innovative DRR services and solutions to people with disabilities.

ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the following position:

Project Officer
 
Location: Yogyakarta, Indonesia (with possible travel to Central Java, West Java and the Mentawai Islands).
Duration: 8 Months
Start: Immediate
Vacancy: National position
Salary: ASB offers a competitive salary package commensurate with experience

Summary of job profile:

This position primarily relates to the promotion of disability-inclusive DRR and resilience building. The position is to assist in coordination and delivery of field activities in collaboration with key project stakeholders, and to ensure inclusive community mobilisation and active participation by all with a key focus on people with disability in community level activities. The position is also to support capacity building, and training facilitation. The Project Officer reports to the Programme Manager and is expected to coordinate closely with other project members. The position includes both field and office work.

Desireable qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience of working in community development. 
  • Experience in engagement with, and ensuring participation of, community and community-based organisations.
  • Experience in coordination with government at community and district/province level.
  • Experience in organising workshops, meetings or trainings at community, sub-national and/or national level. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project locations
  • Knowledge on DRR an advantage.
  • An awareness of disability and understanding of the principles of inclusion required. 
  • Excellent reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Bahasa Indonesia and English language skills.
  • Enthusiasm, critical thinking and a creative approach to problem solving highly valued.
