FAO is seeking for a Database Programmer with detail of the position as follows.
The Database Programmer shall operate under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Indonesia, the general supervision of the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases Operations (ECTAD) Programme Team Leader in Indonesia, the Chief Technical Advisor (Analysis and Policy Development) and under direct supervision of the National Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor and in close coordination with other Database Programmer, the DCC Data Encoder Coordinator, the Epidemiology Team, the URC-PHMS MOA and other relevant national and international staffs to perform duties relating to the design and programming of animal disease databases for the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) / FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases Operations (ECTAD) Programme for effective and efficient decision making.
Specific responsibilities will include:
* Design of normalized relational databases, using MS Access and Visual Basic 6 (or later versions) or MS SQL Server and Visual Studio or other open source software to collect, manage and analyze information from the MOA / FAO ECTAD Programme and from other animal disease surveillance and control activities.

* Design of database system to accommodate data entry /collection using
manual printed forms, SMS/text messages and Excel spreadsheet.
* Perform of systems analysis for design of query, form and report
production from the database to meet the needs of donors and disease
control managers at all levels of t he ECTAD Programme and related MOA
DAH units.
* Preparation of automated reports and associated queries using Crystal Reports and/or other open source software.
* Work on interfacing database data to the existing spatial analysis software such as ArcMap and MapWindow.
* Conversion of existing data, held in MS-Access databases, for import
into the new databases, including field format conversions to extract
information from text fields.
* Continuous review, revision and improvement of the existing animal
disease databases as well as suggest appropriate software for high
quality information management, effective and efficient decision making
to meet evolving needs of FAO ECTAD and MOA.
* Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
The incumbent shall be a highly qualified and experienced database programmer with the following qualifications:
* Hold a Computer Science degree of at least Bachelor’s level with relevant 3-4 years of experience. Master’s level is preferred.

* Extensive recent experience in the design and creation of Microsoft
Access relational databases, including the use of Visual Basic
programming language or other open source software.
* Experience in using MS Excel, SQL Server, other SQL and Visual Studio
products and familiarity in the usage of spatial analysis software such
as ArcMap and Map Window.
* Experience in database design in the medical or veterinary field is desirable.
* Cooperative, results oriented, a team player and able to work with
individuals from different cultural/national backgrounds with good
interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good knowledge of the English language and able to speak Bahasa Indonesia fluently.
* Previous relevant experience with other UN project is desirable.
* Ability to work under tight deadline and with minimum supervision.
Duty station: FAO ECTAD MOA office, 6th floor, Directorate of Animal Health, Building C, Ministry of Agriculture, Jakarta, Indonesia, with regular travels within Indonesia when required.
Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension depending on funding availability and satisfactory performance
