- Undertake a CTI wide situational assessment and analysis of the ecosystems with special reference on the sustainability of the coral reefs, marine ecosystems and the coastal communities. The consultant should take into account the existing body of work and literature available with the CTI and the SCTRs that have been developed by the individual countries. The assessment will highlight critical threats and vulnerabilities that will need urgent remedial action. The consultants will develop likely scenarios of the deterioration of marine ecosystems, the need for protected areas and the impact on communities and their livelihoods if current trajectories (business as usual trends) are not reversed.
- Review and identify projects and programs included in the RPOA and NPOAs and prioritise them in consultation with the Infrastructure and the Climate Change Adaptation specialist.
- Work closely with the Deputy Team Leader and the financial management specialist to develop sustainable financing mechanisms that support marine conservation and biodiversity protection initiatives.
- Provide inputs and support for the development of guidelines to mainstream biodiversity conservation within the coastal development planning by incorporating best practices, tools and approaches into marine ecosystems and fisheries management programs.
