Senior researcher palm oil sustainability
The senior consultant works in a team that acquires and implements projects that contribute to policies and actions that help make the palm oil industry accountable and sustainable. He/she is based in Bogor, Indonesia and reports to the management of the Asia office.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Advice civil society organizations, private sector and certification schemes in the field of palm oil sustainability
- Monitor and analyse palm oil industry and policy trends, such as company acquisitions, mergers and listings, legislation and purchasing/investment policies and certification standards
- Coordinate and conduct in-depth case studies and/or regional studies to verify that plantation company groups comply with applicable sustainability policies and standards
- Maintain and expand an excellent network of clients and partners
- Lead teams of consultants
- Lead acquisition and account management
- Be involved in product development and knowledge management
- Actively contribute to the further development and growth of Aidenvironment
- Spirited person with keen interest to transform the palm oil industry through independent research and advice. Affinity with organizations that strive to develop, implement and enforce the highest available sustainability performance standards
- Strong analytical and strategic skills
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary professional teams
- Proven experience with field research, corporate analysis and/or GIS
- Demonstrable knowledge of relevant producer country legislation and certification schemes
- Past employment in the palm oil industry is a pre; experience in the industry and civil society is preferred
- At least ten years of working experience.
- Demonstrable experience in consultancy
- Available for 0.8 fte or more
- A professional background (MA/MSc or PhD) in geography, agronomy, ecology, social studies, political economy or related field
- Fluency in English (writing) and Bahasa Indonesia (minimally speaking) is required.
