About GGGI
The Global Green Growth
Institute (GGGI) is the world’s newest international organization.
Headquartered in Seoul, it is a new kind of international organization –
interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder and driven by the priorities of emerging
and developing economies.
GGGI was established by a group of eighteen governments pursuant
to a treaty signed at the United Nations Rio+20 conference in June 2012.
GGGI is dedicated to supporting
developing and emerging countries to meet their own development and
growth objectives by exploring and implementing green growth plans that
simultaneously target key economic and environmental goals. These include
poverty reduction, job creation and social inclusion as well as mitigation and
adaptation to climate change, biodiversity loss and energy and water security.
GGGI’s theory of change leads
it to focus on three major outcomes:
1. Development and
implementation of rigorous green growth plans that form the core of
national and provincial economic development strategies;
2. Research that builds a strong theoretical and empirical basis
for green growth
while providing concrete
options and guidance for policymakers, and;
3. Public-private partnerships
that strengthen incentives for the scaling of
resource-efficient investment
and innovation.
GGGI is
already providing technical assistance and capacity building support to over a
dozen developing and emerging economies as part of the Green Growth Planning and
Implementation (GGP&I) program. These countries are seeking to capitalize
on the potential co-benefits of strong socioeconomic and environmental process
as well as gain better access to the public and private finance and
technology that can help place their economies on a more sustainable and
resilient development pathway.
GGGI
has launched several cutting-edge research and public-private partnerships with
leading international institutions and the organization’s strategic plan
envisions considerable growth over the next three years.
Job description
Reporting to the Senior REDD+
Advisor, and part of the Government of Indonesia (GoI)-GGGI Green Growth
Program team, you will be responsible for providing targeted technical
support to Indonesia’s REDD+ initiative. This will focus on supporting
sub-national governments to develop REDD+ program proposals in GGGI’s
two pilot provinces, Central and East Kalimantan. In addition, you will contribute
to GGGI’s efforts to mainstream REDD+ into Indonesia’s economic planning
and investment processes by helping integrate programs and policies that
achieve REDD+ goals into mid-term development plans and public budgets.
The ‘REDD+ for Green Growth’
component of the GoI-GGGI Green Growth Program works directly with the
recently established REDD+ Agency along with other key ministries and
agencies at both the national and sub-national level. Your role will involve
close cooperation with officials from a range of government institutions and other
key stakeholders working on REDD+ programs.
You
will play a crucial role in the detailed analysis of potential sub-national
REDD+ programs to ensure that they support the goals of the REDD+ National
Strategy and are well-designed, politically-aligned and operationally feasible.
Beyond this analysis, you will lead the development of project proposals
that can be submitted to potential funders.
You will also provide expert
advice to the REDD+ mainstreaming work that involves close coordination
with development planning and budgeting processes, and an awareness of
the political economy around land use and forestry in Indonesia.
You will also play a key role
in capacity-building efforts and will actively participate with a range
of public and private REDD+ stakeholders. This role requires an acute awareness
of the importance of government ownership of the various outputs of this
component and the ability to develop strategic approaches to ensure this buy-in.

applicants are expected to have the following qualifications, skills and
capabilities:
·
Exemplary and relevant academic credentials, including a university degree in a
relevant subject (Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental/ Ecological
Economics) from a leading academic institution. A post-Masters degree is

· Three
or more years’ experience in Indonesia in the field of forestry, sustainable development,
climate change or related disciplines.
· Broad
knowledge of REDD+ in Indonesia, including REDD+ National Strategy, PRISAI, and
the Indonesian development planning and budgeting processes.
·
Demonstrated experience in preparing project proposals and other relevant documentation.
·
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with
stakeholders from the public sector, civil society, academia and the private
sector.
·
Flexibility, responsiveness and the ability to work as part of a team, carry out
multiple activities to tight deadlines and operate effectively in a complex
organizational context.
·
Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and a high-level of written and spoken English.
The successful individuals will
be part of a global team at GGGI. The role presents an opportunity to
work with talented, dynamic and driven individuals on projects at the cutting

for an international and diverse career within a new and innovative
