Frankfurt Zoological Society Vacancy: Agro - Forestry Manager, Jambi

Bukit Tigapuluh Landscape Conservation Project is a 5-year project starting in 2014 to establish an ecosystem restoration concession (ERC) with the goal to protect natural forest and its biodiversity. The programme will manage former forest concessions in close co-operation with local communities. The programme is executed by Frankfurt Zoological Society in co-operation with WWF Indonesia and supported by the German Government and KFW Development Bank.
 
Currently we are looking for the following position for Agro-Forestry Manager
 
Job Summary :
The successful candidate will be an experienced agro forestry manager with strong skills in conceptual and strategic thinking as well as proven hands on experiences in agro forestry practices in cooperation with local communities.
 
Location : BLCP base camp and field office Tebo, Jambi province, Sumatra
 
Qualification required
  • University degree (B.Sc., M.Sc.) in forestry / agro-forestry or related field 
  • Minimum 10 years’ working experience at the community level, with at least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies
  • Strong managerial and organisational competence
  • Willingness to take residence in the ERC area
  • Good knowledge of the English language
Responsibilities
  • Implementation of a reforestation plan including supervision of restoration and reforestation activities
  • Develops a monitoring and documentation system for restoration and reforestation activities including report responsibilities to sponsors
  • Frequent work shifts in selected villages and with community groups to ensure that activities are proceeding as planned
Managerial Tasks
  • Conducts awareness campaigns among communities including workshops and training 
  • Supports participatory Agro-Forestry planning processes involving local communities
  •   Assists communities on CBFM development and implementation in pilot areas
  • Prepares and conducts workshops, training activities, seminars, etc. related to CBFM
  • Develops stakeholder networks to support CBFM advocacy
  • Advises and supervises reforestation and restoration activities
  • Supervises field projects to ensure activities are proceeding as planned
