The Jhpiego Indonesia programs are aimed to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes in Indonesia. We are currently implementing mhealth Program in Indonesia, funded by GE Foundation In order to reach our goals, we are now recruiting a Consultant position to be part of the Jhpiego Indonesia great team. Overview:
In Indonesia,
Jhpiego initiates mHealth program namely SMSbunda. SMSbunda is a text messaging
service aimed at reaching expectant and newly delivered mothers with important
clinical information about antenatal, delivery and postnatal care. A software
developer is needed to design and improve functionalities of SMSbunda platform.
S/he will support the development of the new phase of the SMS system, which
will be piloted in two districts: Bogor and Cirebon.
Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, and working in close coordination
with the ICT4D Officer, the incumbent performs the following tasks:
- Design, customize, and improve functionalities of SMS system using Free and Open Source Software.
- Connect and test out SMS system with APIs from SMS aggregators and ensure its functionalities ran properly.
- Configure and install SMS system on computer server according standard interface protocols.
- Provide technical support and system administration.
- Ensure and manage security and hosting of SMS system.
- Advise on the technical needs and capabilities of existing and potential software and hardware options as needed.
- Train staff to appropriately use and maintain SMS system.
- Provide user guidelines for hardware and software usage.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences or a related field, or the experiential equivalent of technical training and relevant work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing and managing information system in iterative project, particularly for SMS-based system using Free and Open Source Software.
- Skilled in web/database/SMS framework/API programming (e.g. PHP, MySQL, rapidSMS etc).
- Must have knowledge of, or be able to obtain, best practice solutions for troubleshooting problems with hardware, software, and network operations.
- Personal characteristics required: strong communications skills with a dedicated customer service orientation; self-starter and problem-solver with previous experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other technical staff, vendors and users.
- Must be able to handle multiple priorities and manage time effectively.
