The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is hiring an
outstanding macro-economist to support their programme in East and
Central Kalimantan.
GGGI
is dedicated to helping governments and industry pioneers to explore a
new model of economic growth: green growth. Economics, and in particular
the economics of resource productivity and development, is at the core
of GGGI’s approach. While GGGI adopts a set of multi-disciplinary
methodologies, economic tools are crucial to assess the suitability of
green growth policy and investment in achieving the economic and
development objectives of their partner countries.
Reporting
into the Country Director, you will lead the macro-economic modeling
and assessment in the province of East and Central Kalimantan with the
aim of mainstreaming green growth into the planning processes. Based in
Bappenas or Bappeda, you will also work closely with the Chief Economist
on all economic work.
Responsibilities include:

Working closely with the GGGI representatives based in Samarinda and Palangka Raya

Supporting the provincial government in shaping their green growth planning
-
Developing close relationships with the provincial and district level government agencies
-
Supporting these agencies to assess the baseline implications of the current economic strategy, as well as identifying opportunities for key green growth projects and policies
-
Connecting provincial government agencies with GGGI’s green growth expertise
-
Helping to facilitate capacity building and the active participation of key stakeholders
-
Involvement in the provincial policy design and implementation support
-
Managing public and private sector stakeholder engagement in the two provinces
-
Knowledge sharing across the organisation
As
the successful individual, you will appreciate the importance of
creating government ownership of all analytical assessments and outputs
under these work steams.
Key competencies include:

Exemplary and relevant academic credentials, including economics
-
A detailed understanding of the economy and economic strategy at a provincial level in Indonesia
-
Experience of macro-economic modeling and assessments, and an understanding of the linkages to environmental and climate issues, and REDD+ programmes
-
Experience of working with government, including the government of Indonesia
-
The ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with leaders from diverse backgrounds
-
Demonstrated track record of working in multi-disciplinary teams, in a complex organisational context
-
Fluent written and verbal in English

Flexibility to travel between Jakarta and Kalimantan
