Conservation International,an international non-governmental
organization, is seeking to fill the position of is looking for a highly
qualified and motivated individual as a POLICY COORDINATOR on
Sustainable Landscape Partnership (SLP) project Mandailing Natal Regency
and Tapanuli Selatan Regency
This is a Medan base position, providing data and information, collecting the facts, and reporting to the Sumatra Program Manager/Landscape Manager. The Coordinator will also coordinate with other CI staff in the Mandailing Natal, Tapanuli Selatan, Medan, Jakarta and HQ Offices.
The role of this position is to support and conduct policy analysis, policy advocacy and policy intervention to strengthening biodiversity policy on sustainable landscape management and enabling environment policy, include securing key conservation policy actions by government agencies, policy reform on specific conservation issues,finding conservation policy solutions and policy choice for difficult challenges in conservation and natural resource management and identify innovative solutions to current and emerging threats to critical habitat and species in program areas through providing policy materials, advocacy; inputs to policy makers and outreach; research; scientific/studies publication and communication related to conservation policy and governance issues;working with other staff related, senior officials and decision-makers
to develop policies, incentive programs and partnerships that support and encourage conservation and ecologically compatible development.This position is also responsible to ensuring smooth implementation of field activities and maintains good relationship with partners.
Responsibilities:
*Assist other Terrestrial staff and or other specialist related to research and policy analysis, policy advocacy and policy intervention to strengthen biodiversity policy on sustainable landscape management and promote enabling environment policy to be implemented;
*Identify innovative solutions to current and emerging threats to critical habitat and species in program areas through providing policy materials and advocacy;
*Develop key stakeholder networking and supporting for smooth project implementation as a part of the nature essential service conservation and protection effort;
*Report to internal and external stakeholder as required, including regular monthly project progress reports for the Sumatra Program Manager also the future program;
*Represent CI in other potential activities and carry out other duties as required by the Sumatra Program Manager
Qualifications:
*S1 degree preferred in forestry, policy and law, landscape or natural resources management related science with at least 5 years of experience on forestry and sustainable development worked in Sumatra.
*Understanding of forestry and development issues at regional level.
*Experienced on research development, methodology and its implementation.
*Ability to work and communication effectively in cross-cultural situations with a wide range of people in both the public.
*Flair for diplomacy; negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, negotiating, develop networking and facilitation skills at all levels.
*Demonstrated competency in field team coordination and multi stake holder facilitation
*Self-motivated with the drive and determination to succeed and well-developed interpersonal and team working
*Ability to contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the project and good team player and to ability adapt changes in work load,
*Willingness to travel and work long hours, including work in arduous field conditions, often to remote areas if needed.
*Excellent communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
*Computer literacy with experiences in electronic communications (i.e. E-mail, Internet, etc.) as a user including a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

*Demonstrated competency in field team management and multi stake holder facilitation
*Demonstrated and proven commitment to protection and conservation of natural resources
*Proven record of success as part of interdisciplinary conservation project teams and self-motivated with the drive and determination to succeed and well-developed
interpersonal and team working
*Demonstrated and proven ability to produce tangible results, prioritize tasks and develop timelines for project completion work independently, and lead successful team projects and ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion, defining goals and deliverables, assembling and motivating teams, managing team assignments, scheduling, budgeting, tracking progress and milestones, and delivering products.
*Excellent communication skills in local language(Bataknese or Mandailingnese).
