Save
the Children is an international non-profit organization that focuses
on the fulfillment
of children’s right. Save the Children was first established in May
1919 in the U.K. and to date has 28 Save the Children Offices and
operations in more than 120 countries worldwide. In 1976, Save the
Children signed an MoU with the Ministry of Social Affairs
of the Republic of Indonesia, followed then by the operations of Save
the Children throughout Indonesia. Currently, Save the Children work in
11 provinces with a variety of program areas, such as: Education, Health
and Sanitation, Livelihood, Child Protection
also Disaster Risk Reduction.
Save
the Children is committed in conducting its programs in a way that is
safe for children beneficiaries and to help protect children with whom
Save the Children in a relationship. As a humanitarian organization,
Save the Children is obliged to create and maintain an environment to
prevent any sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children as well as
to promote the implementation of child safety
policies.
SELARAS
is a project with focus on health, hygiene and hand washing for newborn
survival in Bandung district, West Java. SELARAS is funded by Reckitt
Benckiser which aims to contribute to a reduction in newborn mortality
in four sub districts in Bandung district and will contribute to Save
the Children’s global EveryOne campaign which aims to reduce child
mortality.
SELARAS
will be implemented in the same areas as the USAID-funded Expanding
Maternal and Newborn Survival (EMAS) in Bandung district, which focuses
on improving emergency obstetric and newborn care in first and second –
level health facilities. By doing this, SELARAS will support the
complete continuum of care from the household to the district hospital
and will be able to leverage the EMAS project’s
local and national relationship for even greater impact.
This
five years project will achieve its objective by increasing the quality
of hygiene and hand washing practices among health facility staff,
village midwives and Traditional Birth Attendants to prevent infection
during delivery and postnatal care, increasing knowledge and improving
practices of household caregivers in newborn health, and improving the
policy and resource allocation environment
to support improved hygiene and hand washing practices for newborn
survival.
Now, we are looking for a position of:
Monitoring & Evaluation Officer – SELARAS Project (code: Monev-Selaras), based in Bandung
Report to : Project Manager
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Under the lead of SELARAS PM and consultation with National M&E Specialist in Jakarta office develop design, methodology, procedures and tools to monitor and documenting SELARAS Project progress activities with reference to Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system in Save the Children. This will include development of beneficiaries database of SELARAS project
- Plan, manage and report of all activities related with monitoring, mid term review and evaluation on day-by-day basis.
- Document all relevant data and information both quantitative and qualitative regarding the project activities.
Reporting:
- Ensure that the reporting data is collected in a technically correct manner and accurately reflect field realities and meet quality standards.
- Update periodically data of the process and result of the projects
- Prepare monthly success story and total reach in line with guideline provided by National ME Specialist
- Conduct analysis data and information as well as formulate conclusion and recommendation to project under consultation with SELARAS PM, health and hygiene specialist and national M&E Specialist.
- Provide all SELARAS project staffs (PM, Specialist and POs) with data and information they request. Also working in close coordination with ME staffs from other projects of Save the Children in Bandung, including EMAS program in West Java
Networking:
- Support SELARAS PM, and national M&E Specialist for dissemination ME results via routine reporting mechanism and other means to donor and stakeholders (government, and beneficiaries).
- Work with SELARAS project staff and partners in the implementation of ME plan and support them in process of data collection and analysis.
Lateral Relationship:
- Closed coordination with SELARAS PM, National Monev Specialist and other SELARAS Project and other Project member in Save the Children.
- Any other duty assigned by line manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
·
Minimum S1 in all relevant study that related to monitoring and evaluation
·
Three years of experience in the collection of data from the district level
·
Proven experience in research and monitoring and evaluation.
·
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation programs
·
Demonstrated experience in the delivery of development projects, preferably in the health sector
·
Excellent in social and in interpersonal skills.
·
Strong communication skills.
·
Proven ability to work effectively within set time frames and with demonstrated impact.
·
Proven and demonstrated writing and presentation skills in Bahasa Indonesia and good skills in English.
·
Proven experience of working closely within team.
·
Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, word-processing);
Desirable
·
Experience with collecting population-based public health data preferable
