WorldFish, a
member of the CGIAR Consortium, is an international, nonprofit research
organization. CGIAR is a global partnership that unites organizations
engaged in research for a food secure future. CGIAR research is
dedicated to reducing rural poverty, increasing food security, improving
human health and nutrition, and ensuring more sustainable management of
natural resources. It is carried out by the 15 centers who are members
of the CGIAR Consortium in close collaboration with hundreds of partner
organizations, including national and regional research institutes,
civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector.
WorldFish

RESEARCH DIRECTOR
(Penang, Malaysia)
To
help ensure the best possible leadership for a rapidly growing
organization, WorldFish is pleased to announce a new position of
Director of Research. Reporting to the Director General, the successful
candidate will join the WorldFish Executive Team. Your role will be to
provide the leadership and strategic oversight needed to ensure that our
research agenda tackles the right questions and that we maintain high
standards of quality and effectiveness. If you are a respected
researcher and research manager who can think strategically at a global
level while also understanding the practical realities we face in the
regions where we work we would love to hear from you.
Your Principal Duties will be to:
- Provide strategic oversight of the WorldFish research agenda and the leadership needed to maintain research quality, coherence and productivity.
- Lead a team of Discipline Directors to deliver high quality outputs that capitalize on the breadth of scientific expertise at WorldFish.
- Supervise and support Discipline Directors in identifying, recruiting and developing WorldFish researchers.
- Lead and oversee management of WorldFish research data quality and access, including intellectual property.
- Lead WorldFish engagement with the CGIAR Research Program on Livestock and Fish.
Candidates are sought with:
- PhD in relevant discipline and proven track record in science for development.
- 15 years research experience, including at least 5 in research management.
- Demonstrated leadership capacity involving multiple science teams.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Experience of living and working in developing countries.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a geographically dispersed and diverse team.
