Save the Children VACANCY : Sr. Project Manager - IKEA, based in Bandung

Save the Children is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental alliance of 29 member organizations that works in 120 countries throughout the world.  Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since 1976 to promote health and nutrition, education, child protection, livelihoods, and emergency preparedness and response. Save the Children has grown enormously in the country and today we operate in 13 provinces across Indonesia. Our program in Indonesia has made significant progress at the national policy level and in the Bandung, West Java metropolitan area in facilitating family-based care for neglected and vulnerable children.

The ‘Facilitating Family-based Care for Indonesian Children with Disabilities’ IKEA project will mobilize communities, government stakeholders, and others to assist Indonesian children with disabilities attaining their right ‘to enjoy a full and decent life, in conditions which ensure dignity, promote self-reliance and facilitate the child’s active participation in the community’.  Save the Children will accomplish this by increasing the capacity of families to care for their Children With Disabilities (CWD); supporting community-based rehabilitation services; improving access to high quality education; and promoting awareness of CWD issues and reducing stigma. Currently Save the Children has an immediate need for experienced staffs to be part of our IKEA program team and will be based in Bandung.

Now we are looking for a position of :

Senior Project Manager – IKEA (code: SPM - IKEA) – 1 post, based in Bandung
The position of Senior Project Manager is to lead and oversee the day-to-day activities of the IKEA and SIAP project including developing periodic work plan, implementing activities, monitoring and evaluation, staff management, and financial management. She/he will directly report to Senior Program Manager Family Based Care in Jakarta.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide team leadership in project strategy, management and monitoring and evaluation to ensure achievement of the IKEA and IKEA project’s objectives in accordance with the approved results framework and project design.
  • Provide effective management and supervision to project team and social work team including support staff.
  • Provide technical assistance on child protection and care to the project and social work team including in the implementation of program, ensuring full compliance with the organizational policy on child protection and listening to the staff, children and community input to improve the implementation.
  • Ensure financial resources are effectively and efficiently managed according to approved IKEA and SIAP budget, donor requirements and regulations, and SC financial controls. In cooperation with Program Director/Family based Care Senior Program Manager and grants unit conduct financial planning and request budget realignment when necessary.
  • Establish and develop strong and effective relationships with key government and non government stakeholders at national, provincial and district level to improve project implementation
  • Ensure timely submission of high quality donor reports, case studies, and SC monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Ensure high quality program implementation and monitoring and evaluation of all project interventions according to global best practices, IKEA standards, and lessons learned from child protection programming in Indonesia and globally.
  • Maintain regular communication with SC child protection and care unit for consultation, reporting project activities and to engage in global discussions on child protection best practices.
  • Contribute to overall SC program by being an active participant in SC Extended Senior Management Team, actively sharing IKEA program progress and lessons learned, contributing to the development of country annual plan and through participation in quarterly meetings, and contribution to country office annual plan and report.
  • Ensure substance of the program referred to the framework of Child Protection and Care Program especially for CWD and delivery appropriate to project and social work team and partners.
Requirements:

Education: Preferable Master Degree in education/social work or relevant studies.

Skill and Experiences:
  • At least 8 years work experience with non-government organizations in the areas of Child Protection and Care and Children with Disability.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in child protection, people with disability (PWD) and children with disability (CWD).
  • Proven excellent in working on managerial and capacity building team.
  • Proven strategic planning skills, analytical and conceptual thinking.
  • Strong working relationships with community, government and other partners.
  • Excellent ability to use initiative and flexibility to support technical excellence.
  • Successful supervision and coaching in stressful situation.
  • Good inter-personal skills, negotiation and good communication skills in English and bahasa.
  • Capable to work and lead effectively as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent English and Indonesian language skills – both verbal and written, including writing and presentation skills in English and bahasa.
  • Excellent computer literate.
