The Empowering Indonesian Women for Poverty Reduction or Maju Perempuan
Indonesia untuk Penanggulangan Kemiskinan (MAMPU) is funded by the
Government of Australia through the Australian Agency for International
Development (AusAID) and managed by Cowater International Inc. The MAMPU
program purpose is to build broad-based networks and inclusive coalitions
led by strengthened women's and gender-interested organisations, and
parliamentarians in order to influence government policies, regulations and
services, and in selected private sector arenas, to improve the access of
poor women to critical services. MAMPU Program is currently seeking the
following position:
Position : Operational & Program Communications & Knowledge Management
Assistant
Location : Jakarta
Report to : Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist
Duration : Long Term
Purpose
Support MAMPU Operational and Program Communications and Knowledge
Management to ensure access to information and share lessons learned,
promote achievements and issues, and support communications between Partners
to build and strengthen coalitions and networks.
Responsibility
Primary responsibility for preparing content for the different
communications tools and MAMPU stakeholders.
Work with the Capacity Development and Monitoring and Evaluation Advisers to
ensure that operational and program communications are accurate, timely and
professional quality.
Liaise with Capacity Development and Monitoring and Evaluation Advisers,
Partner Facilitators, Analytics and Research Unit, and other and other
Technical Support Advisers to identify and develop opportunities to share
knowledge and facilitate interaction and cooperation.
Description
Work cooperatively, collaboratively and creatively as part of a dynamic team
developing, preparing and disseminating innovative, quality communications
and information materials to improve access to information and its use,
internally within the program and externally by stakeholders and the general
public. Champion the creation and use of effective communications and
knowledge tools, and help develop innovative approaches to their design and
application to increase effectiveness and impact. Build on your experience
and talents, and explore new approaches to increase communications' role and
value in facilitating, supporting and reinforcing change. Join a team
dedicated to improving the lives and welfare of poor Indonesian women and
helping Partner organizations achieve positive change.
Prepare a broad range of information and communications materials (print,
presentations, info graphics and displays, video clips, web based to promote
key messages regarding women and poverty plus, the programs key thematic
areas:
1. Improved women's access to government social protection programs,
2. Increased women's access to jobs, and workplace discrimination
eliminated,
3. Improved conditions for women's overseas labor migration,
4. Strengthened women's leadership for better maternal and
reproductive health, and
5. Strengthened women's leadership to reduce violence against women.
Tailor content to audiences ranging including but, not limited to:
1. Frontline implementers of projects to share lessons learned,
inspire and give voice to issues raised, and provide opportunities for
dialog and exchange.
2. Senior policy and program managers
3. Partner organizations to share lessons learned
4. General public to build awareness about women's and poverty
issues, and support open and dynamic exchange between them.
You will have:
An interest in developing innovative approaches to expressing information
and ideas and ability to link this to achieving specific goals, e.g. to
build awareness, influence, inform, educate and support action specifically
tailored to target groups.
Passion for expressing ideas and finding creative ways to translate concepts
and experience to useable information, highlight positive results, strength
and link key messages and other program information, and to motivate and
reinforce change, and especially, translate abstract and theoretical into
realistic, applicable terms.
Tasks
1. Review Internal communications and project documentation including
reports and other project documentation to identify and recommend knowledge
products to disseminate
2. Prepare content for different communications and knowledge management
tools and targeting specific stakeholder groups / audiences
3. Collect information from Partners for documentation, website,
newsletters and other knowledge sharing products
4. Source information and news re: Program themes and current issues
impacting on women and poverty to be shared with Partners and other
stakeholders.
5. Manage Fan Page, Website and newsletter content, and other
information and communications tools, and liaise with Partners for inputs
6. Coordinate with M&E to interpret / process results from surveys,
evaluations, studies, etc. to identify communications and knowledge
management needs and opportunities, develop ideas for effectively
communicating the results to specific audiences, and translate into
knowledge products for publication and dissemination.
7. Coordinate with the Capacity Development Adviser and Partner
Facilitators to identify communications needs of Partners to focus the
design and content of communications and knowledge management products.
8. Work with the Communications and Knowledge Management Adviser to
develop communications tools and content to support access to information
about MAMPU and its Partners, the Program's key issues (thematic areas) and
successes and lessons learned plus, provide forums/ channels for exchange
and engagement to facilitate forming and strengthening coalitions and
networks
Experience, Expertise & other Requirements
* 5 years' experience planning and preparing communications for outreach,
public relations, promotion and advocacy including success stories, news
releases, brochures, etc. to inform, promote and influence.
* Experience as a journalist or writer for publications and other media for
diverse audiences from policy makers and senior level managers to frontline
/ grassroots implementers.
* Experience developing tools and mechanisms for Knowledge Management with
in a project or organization.
* Able to manage multiple demands and prioritize tasks, work easily and
cooperatively with diverse stakeholders, and support other team members.
* Proactive in taking responsibility, maintaining professional standards,
and contributing ideas to make communications products more interesting and
suitable for different audiences.
* Experience with Social Media, video, websites, publications, and other
media and maintain continuity and focus on key messages.
* Experience working on development projects or with civil society
organizations / NGOs which implement activities for gender and women's
rights, social protection, poverty reduction and governance.
* Familiar with issues: women's rights and gender, violence against women,
social protection, migrant employment, maternal and reproductive health,
women's access to employment and work place discrimination.
* Skilled in using standard word processing programs (e.g. Word, Excel) and
design and media production programs (e.g. Photoshop, Publisher, In Design,
etc.)
* Experience with digital cameras and photo editing.
* Experience preparing media and communications materials according to
donor Branding, Graphics Standards, and other regulations.
* Fluent in Indonesian and English
* Able to travel
