The global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is the world’s newest
international organization. Headquartered in Seoul, it is a new kind of
international organization – interdiciplinary, multistakeholder and driven
by the priorities of emerging and developing economies – established by an
initial group of eighteen governments pursuant to a treaty signed at the
United Nations Rio+20 conference in June 2012.
GGGI is dedicated to supporting developing and emerging countries to meet
their own development and growth objectives by exploring and implementing
green growth plans that simultaneously target key economic and
environmental objectives. These include poverty reduction, job creation and
social inclusion as well as mitigation and adaptation to climate change,
biodiversity loss and energy and water security. GGGI was founded as a
non-profit organisation in June 2010 and is currently converted to an
intergovernmental organisation.
GGGI’s theory of change leads it to focus on three major outcomes: adoption
and implementation of rigorous green growth plans that form the core of
national and provincial economic development strategies; research which
builds a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while
providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; and
public-private partnerships that strengthen incentives for the scaling of
resource-efficient investment, innovation and practice as well as for the
engagement of companies in the implementation of national and subnational
green growth plans.
GGGI is already providing technical and capacity building support to cover
a dozen governments which are seeking to capitalize on the potential
co-benefits of strong socioeconomic and environmental process as well as
gain better access to the public and private finance and technology that
can help place their economies on a more sustainable and resilient
development pathway. It has launched several cutting-edge research and
public private partnerships with leading international institutions. The
organization’s strategic plan envisions considerable growth over the next
three years.
Reporting to the Country Director, and part of the global Green Growth
Planning and Implementation (GGP&I) team, you will be responsible to lead
the workstream on green technology, particulary related to renewable
energy, energy efficiency and waste management. You will be based at
the Ministry
of Energy and Mineral Rersouces and particularly work with the
Ministry of Energy
and Mineral Rersouces, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Public
Works, Ministry
of Planning and Development, and Agency for the Assessment and Application
of Technology. You will manage consultants who will do the assessments
onbaseline implications, in terms of green growth, of the current
economic
strategic, and then on identifying opportunities for key Green Growth
projects and policies that can promote Green Growth.
*JOB DESCRIPTION*
· Working for one of the sub-components, named as “Green Industry
Mapping Strategy (GIMS) under the Indonesia Country programme” and be
responsible for leading the strategic, managerial and technical elements
under this project. This position and consulting team will assist the
Indonesian Government to improve and develop greener technology
transfermechanisms and to supportdevelopment of project business
caseswhich will
proof these mechanisms.
· Identify and design technical assistance, policy design and
implementation support for GIMS, particularly by facilitating knowledge
sharing and partnerships between policymakers, institutions and private
sectors in Indonesia and those of GGGI partner countries.
· Working as the key focal point on this matter and be the
coordinator on all related efforts including public and private sector
stakeholder engagement, and international knowledge sharing.
· Working in close cooperation with officials from the Indonesian
government and external consultants to conduct comparative analysis over
the prioritized green technologies in line with the supporting policies and
implementations, assess the economic, environmental and social impacts by
regional cooperation along the economic corridors in the context of
MP3EIand RAN-GRK,
as well as business cases design.
· As you support the implement the above, you are sensitive to the
importance of government ownership of the various analytical assessments
and outputs under this work stream and able to develop strategic approaches
to ensure this ownership.
*QUALIFICATION*
All applicants must hold exemplary and relevant academic credentials, and
ideally hold a post-graduate degree in a relevant subject from a leading
academic institution. Individuals will also have substantial work
experience(5 – 7 years)and substantial(min 3 years)working experience
in a relevant field in Indonesia.
· Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanics relevant to Green
Technology or in areas related to the Environment and/or Energy;
· A minimum of three to five years professional relevant
experiencein the renewable energy, energy efficiency and/ or waste
management
;
· Three or more years’ experience in Indonesia developing and
fostering strong relationships with key government institutions (for
example, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Environment,
Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, etc.) is a plus;
· Have a wide network across global and Indonesian academic,
research institutions as well as government bodies on climate policy and
economic development;
· Exceptional synthesis and strategic thinking skills, in the areas
of expertise relevant to GGGI: low-carbon technologies including renewable
energy, waste management, and energy and resource efficiency,
greenindustry, etc.

· Flexibility, responsiveness, and ability to carry out multiple
activities to tight deadlines, and with demonstrated ability to
dooutstanding stakeholder engagementandclient relationship skills
;
· A track record of delivery of complex programmes, with
multi-stakeholder management in Indonesia;
· Multi-cultural literacy and easily adaptable;
· Actively seeks and considers diverse ideas and approaches and
ability to work as part of a team;
· Strong oral and written English and fluency in Indonesian is
essential.
