Vancant for Field Operations Manager, Field Officer and Project Administrator, West Lampung & South Sumatra

Company EDE Consulting GmbH based in Hamburg, Germany, is a consulting company owned by the foundation Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung. The company designs and manages sustainable agricultural development projects worldwide. With over twenty years of experience in project design, implementation and management, EDE Consulting contributes to improving the living conditions of smallholder coffee and cocoa farmers through a business approach to sustainable development. 

Financed by private and public donors, EDE Consulting GmbH will start implementing a 5-year project to promote sustainable smallholder robusta coffee production in Southern Sumatra (West Lampung and/or South Sumatera). The project aims to provide farmer training on good agricultural practices, product quality and marketing, farmer organizational development, etc.
Job Opportunity

1. Field Operations Manager
The project is looking for a Field Operations Manager who will be based in South Sumatra or West Lampung Province, in charge of the following tasks:
  • Design Training of Trainer (ToT) and Farmer Field School (FFS) programs (content and implementation plans) on coffee production, product quality, product marketing, farmer organizational development, entrepreneurial skills, nursery management, coffee and climate change related topics, etc.
  • Train staff and project partners on coffee production, product quality, product marketing, farmer organizational development, entrepreneurial skills, nursery management, coffee and climate change related topics, etc.
  • Supervise, coach and monitor the daily tasks of all Field Officers, Project Partners and consultants.
  • Supervise the implementation of demonstration plots in cooperation with Field Officers, Project Partners and Farmers.
  • Maintain a farmer record keeping database and perform regular quality control checks.
  • Write up concise reports according to donor requirements.
  • Support baseline, mid-term and end of project evaluation surveys.
  • Facilitate mission of Consultants and Project Visitors.
  • Translate documents, reports, meeting minutes, etc. and translate verbally during meetings and workshops upon request.
Duration of Assignment
Definite contract for 3 years with option for prolongation.

Profile Experience:
  • University Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or similar field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience; demonstrated practical expertise in participatory farmer training and farmer organizational development.
  • Solid human resource management skills with an ability to rapidly build a strong multi-technical team and effectively oversee and control sub-office administrative functions; ability to motivate staff and foster team work
Required:
  • Indonesian candidate with a university degree in agriculture, community development, agribusines or related subjects.
  • Self initiative and communication skills; accustomed and willing to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written); concise reporting skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and Project).
Desired:
  • Particular expertise related to smallholder coffee or cocoa production, processing, marketing and trade.
  • Candidates from West Lampung or South Sumatra are preferred.

2. Field Officer
The project is looking for a Field Officer who will be based in South Sumatra or West Lampung Province, in charge of the following tasks:
  • Implement farmer field school training session for farmer groups on coffee production, product quality, product marketing, farmer organizational development, entrepreneurial skills, nursery management, coffee and climate change related topics, etc.
  • Train and coach farmer promoters who will facilitate farmer field school training sessions in their communities
  • Assist and support farmers during regular farmer group meetings, provide on-demand advice to farmers and introduce additional information/know-how where required.
  • Support establishment of cooperation with other organizations/stakeholders where required.
  • Implement demonstration plots in cooperation with Project Partners and Farmers.
  • Implement and monitor farmer field book record keeping (i.e. training, data entry and database maintenance, data analysis and report writing).
  • Write up concise reports according to donor requirements.
  • Support baseline, mid-term and end of project evaluation surveys.
  • Facilitate mission of Consultants and Project Visitors.

  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant working experience; demonstrated practical expertise in participatory farmer training and farmer organizational development.

3. Project Administrator

The project is looking for a Project Administrator who will be based in South Sumatra or West Lampung Province, in charge of the following tasks:
  • Manage the daily Project accounting and petty cash and timely preparation of monthly accounting reports for EDE AP and HH. This includes consolidation and verification of correctness of accounting documents/vouchers (including timesheets, monthly reports, invoices, travel claims, etc.) sent by Project staff, Project Partners and Consultants.
  • Handle all office and project related legal aspects such as personal income tax, social insurance, office registration, etc.
  • Office communication by telephone, fax, mail and regular post.
  • Maintenance of databases on office contacts, fixed assets, suppliers, clients, partners, etc.
  • Assistance with the organization of local and international workshops and conferences including room rent, logistics, handling of visa applications for visitors, organization of accommodation and transport.
  • Translate documents, reports, meeting minutes, etc. and translate verbally during meetings and workshops upon request.
Duration of Assignment

Profile Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in administration and accounting.
Required:
  • Indonesian candidate with a university degree finance, Accounting, business administration or related subjects.
  • Advanced proficiency in standard MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and Project).
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written); concise reporting skills.
  • Self initiative and communication skills; accustomed and willing to work under pressure.
