Senior Community Outreach Officer

Responsibilities and key tasks:

Responsibilities and key tasks:
- Support the development of communities with communities and strategies and activities within Indonesia/PMI.
- Work with and build the capacity in communication with communities and accountability activities of the PMI, PNS and IFRC departments and programs, including working with PMI – NHQ board members and staff.
- Develop preparedness and emergency response processes and responses for communication with communities.
- Carry out Baseline study and mapping process to clarify current and past activities.
- Act as the focal point and representative as required.
- Assist in the drafting and development of a Communication with communities country plan for Indonesia, taking into account how current activities can be supported and scaled up and potential for future activities.
- Work on developing promotional materials and learning resources for Communications with communities in Indonesia in collaboration with Regional and Zone programs.
- Work on and develop orientation presentations for Beneficiary Communication activities that can be delivered to varying levels of operations and management personnel within Red Cross programs.
- Identify way that Beneficiary Communication can be incorporated into the existing programs of the IFRC. PMI and PNS including DRR, Youth and volunteers, Blood, ER and other relevant operations.
- Assess and if appropriate develop the ways in which PMI website could be used as a Beneficiary Communications tool.
- Develop a roster of potential and current Beneficiary Communications practitioners based in Indonesia.
- Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably requested by the communications manager and/or his/her designated deputy/representative.
- Participate in Regional and Zone working groups relating to Beneficiary Communications.
Qualification & Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant area (disaster management, media relations, website management, humanitarian policy)
- Recent training course(s) in humanitarian arena or use of new media is preferred
- Two or more years work experience in a related area, in particular communications/knowledge sharing
- Demonstrated research and writing experience
- Experience with networking and communicating with different stakeholders such as government, UN, NGOs and other organisations is preferred
- Demonstrated experience in programme and office administration
- Demonstrated experience with organising and managing files, documents and databases
- Experience of working for the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
- Good knowledge and understanding of communications, knowledge sharing processes
- Good professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of International Federation policies and procedures
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Website management
- Ability to use own initiative and problem-solving skills
- Fluent spoken and written Indonesian and English
