APINDO Requires a Policy Research Lead Economist person to join the
newly - developed Economic Research and Analysis Department in APINDO to
undertake policy-oriented research on international trade and
investment and competitiveness issues and, as part of a team, to prepare
policy options and positions on bilateral and regional economic
partnership agreements for the APINDO Board.

Under the guidance of the APINDO Board and Executive Director:
- Conduct policy oriented research and develop relevant policy recommendations on issues on a range of topics such as sectoral trade issues, investment, services, and barriers to competitiveness, logistics and transport and capacity building requirements for business.
- Assist in the preparation of negotiating positions and submissions to government on FTAs and Strategic Partnership Agreements.
- Prepare presentations and policy position papers for the APINDO Board in cooperation with the Public Outreach and Media Officer and other team members.
- Work with member survey information and economic data and prepare supporting graphs, charts for the APINDO Board and for publication.
- Devising methods and procedures for obtaining the data.
- Understanding and interpreting data.
- Providing technical and non-technical reports on economic trends related to Trade Cooperation.
- Supervise research project.
- Assist in building and maintaining a relevant economic and information database.
- Participate in APINDO training and capacity building programs conducted by local and foreign technical experts.
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree or higher in Economics, or major oriented towards international economy policies, analysis, trade, investment, industry, competitiveness and connectivity.
- At least 5 years of experience working on Economy policy related issues.
- Strong policy research and analysis skills in international economics and a clear understanding of the requirements for a competitive business climate in Indonesia;
- A good understanding of Regional and Bilateral Free Trade and Comprehensive Partnership Agreements.
- Experience in working with business stakeholders, government policy makers and academic economists.
- Good command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.
