ETC Netherlands has been contracted by UNICEF to undertake an independent mid-term evaluation of their EC-funded Maternal and Young Child Nutrition Security Initiative (MYCNSIA) that focuses on improving nutrition security for women and young children (the “1000 days approach”) in Asia. The program is designed around four result areas: a) upstream policy work; b) capacity building; c) data analysis and knowledge sharing; and d) scaling up on key proven interventions. The MYCNSIA program has a regional component and a national component that targets five countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The evaluation requires that each country will be visited by the evaluators for a period of six working days.
ETC Netherlands is searching for local evaluation assistants who can support the country visits by the team of international consultants.
Tasks
To provide logistical support in close collaboration with the UNICEF Country Office for the national fieldwork in the respective countries. Including:
- Scheduling appointments with stakeholders based in the capital (relevant ministries, UN organizations, partner agencies, etc.)
- Make arrangements for the field visits to local UNICEF MYCNSIA project sites
- Assist in the transport and lodging arrangements to be made whilst the evaluation is in the country
- Provide translation services e.g. during visits to stakeholders and – if necessary – during field visits
- To assist in the collection of relevant documentation, literature, and national statistical data in the fields of nutrition, health and food security;
- To assist in the implementation of the Survey Monkey questionnaire for national stakeholders at national and local levels. Including:
- Making of email address list of stakeholders to be approached for the Survey Monkey questionnaire;
- Follow-up to non-respondents;
- Analysis and preparation of first results of Survey Monkey questionnaire.
- Assist in translating Survey Monkey into local language
- A practical and pro-active person with a public health/nutrition or food security background at a minimum of BSc level.
- Good knowledge of the main actors in the nutrition security sector.
- Bi-lingual proficiency in English and the local language.
Maximum fee is USD 200 per day on the basis of actual performance (the fee includes local travel and communication). Travel outside duty station may be required.
