Deputy Manager Samboja Lestari Orangutan Reintroduction and Land Rehabilitation Program, East Kalimantan Based in East Kalimantan

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To manage and coordinate all current activities related to Samboja Lestari (PRORL-SL) under the guidance and direction of the Program Manager
  • Under the guidance of the Program Manager, supervise and maintain good relations with program staff at Samboja Lestari
  • To  develop a strategy in cooperation with the Program Manager and HQ personnel for a long-term plan for the program and activities within Samboja Lestari
  • To coordinate with BOSF HQ on all aspects of planning and management of Samboja Lestari
  • To coordinate with the local governmental authorities to ensure continued collaboration and good coordination with the BOS Foundation as well as communication aspects related to media, visitors, school groups, volunteers and journalists in coordination with the BOSF HQ
  • To coordinate with the Director of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in relation to plans, activities and updates  focused on the orangutan reintroduction program and long-term planning Samboja Lestari
  • To evaluate the performance of the program in coordination with the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Fully socialise to the public the importance of orangutans and land rehabilitation
  • To manage funds allocated for the orangutan reintroduction program and the land rehabilitation program
  • To supervise the reporting of financial information and to act as controller for incoming and disbursement of funds (as signatory for approval of accounting vouchers and cheques/Biyet Giro)
  • To authorise and assist in the preparation of all monthly budget requests to BOSF HQ, in line with achievable and planned activities
  • To supervise the technical reporting to BOSF HQ and local government authorities as agreed
  • To provide information for the preparation of proposal material as required
  • Any further duties as required by the CEO of the BOS Foundation
Competencies and Qualifications:
  • Master degree (S2) in Management, Biology, Forestry, Conservation or related to animal welfare.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in managing an international program, preferentially with experience working for an NGO (national or international).
  • Have excellent leadership and fundraising skill and be able to communicate well with all levels of staff as well as the local government authorities
  • Methodical in planning, implementation, policy management and experienced in organizational and partnership approaches.
  • Advanced written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Computer literate on Ms. Office and capable in operating Internet based programs.
  • Able to work both in a team and individually.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, meet deadlines and apply a good work ethic.
  • Willing to be placed in East Kalimantan.
  • Respect for animals.
