Conservation International, an international non-governmental organization, is seeking applicants for the following position to be based in Manokwari:
BIRD’S HEAD SEASCAPE SECRETARIAT MANAGER
The Bird’s Head Seascape (BHS) Secretariat Manager is a senior level position, which will lead the BHS Secretariat office based in Manokwari, Papua Barat. The BHS is a parnership
between Conservation International (CI), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), World Wide Fund For Nature Indonesia (WWF) and Mazars Starling Resources (MSR). The BHS works towards the goal of sustainable management ofWest Papua’s coastal and marine resources, achieved through a provincial network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) being developed in partnership with government and communities across the seascape.The BHS secretariat has been set up in Manokwari to support the operations of the BHS partners, with particular emphasis on provincial level engagement.

The BHS Secretariat Manager will:
- Engage with provincial and kabupaten stakeholders (government, community, NGO, private sector) to build strategic partnerships
- Engage with governments and provincial planning processes on behalf of BHS Strengthen the organizational capacity of marine protected area governance structures
- Develop and implement strong coordination mechanisms between the coalition partners
- Plan and manage the operations of a small staff and budget
The successful candidate should have as a minimum Bachelors degree in environmental management, or similar, and 5-10 years experience working within conservation programs,
with strong experience with government relations and policy, and leadership skills.

Experience working and living in Papua strongly preferred, as is
the ability to communicate effectively in English and Indonesian
