Deputy Executive Director, Indonesia Joint U.S.-Indonesia Council for Higher Education Partnership

The U.S.-Indonesia Joint Council for Higher Education Partnership is seeking applications for the position of Jakarta-based Deputy Executive Director, starting as soon as possible.

The U.S.-Indonesia Joint Council on Higher Education Partnership (¡§Joint Council¡¨) was established in July 2010 as a bi-national organization to enhance U.S.-Indonesia educational cooperation. Less than four months after its founding, both President Obama and President Yudhoyono welcomed the Joint Council as a dynamic partner of the education component of the U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Partnership. The Joint Council engages with the public and private sectors in both countries to: increase student, faculty, and staff exchanges; enhance joint research; and increase the number of institutional partnerships between colleges and universities.

ResponsibilitiesThe Deputy Executive Director in Indonesia will work collaboratively with staff in Washington, DC and in Indonesia to carry out his or her responsibilities to include:„h Executing Joint Council strategy and programs, under the guidance of and in collaboration with the Council¡¦s U.S. Executive Director in Washington and the Indonesian Executive Director in Jakarta;„h Representing the Joint Council in interactions with governments and private donors in Indonesia;„h Designing and implementing new activities in support of the Joint Council¡¦s strategy;„h Assisting with fundraising activities as required;„h Writing and/or editing grant proposals;„h Overseeing program budget and office operations;„h Organizing the Joint Council Board and Working Group meetings in Jakarta, assisted by the USINDO office;„h Creating a strategy for enlarging the Joint Council¡¦s social media engagement in Indonesia;„h Supervising the Jakarta-based program assistant;

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have:„h Knowledge of the Indonesian higher education sector, both public and private;„h Experience with education collaboration with the United States;„h Strong management, operational, and organizational skills;„h Entrepreneurial and organizational skills to drive projects forward and achieve results;„h A proven track record to execute programs and projects;„h The ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, including senior government officials and donors in the United States and Indonesia;„h Strong communication skills;„h The ability to commit a minimum of two years, subject to satisfactory performance;„h A willingness to travel domestically and abroad;„h A Masters or PhD degree;„h Fluency in English and Indonesian.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
