Project Background
Social Impact (SI) is a Washington, DC-area international development management consulting firm. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Indonesia awarded Social Impact, Inc. (SI) the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Support task order (TO). The purpose of the TO is to support the design and implementation of the Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) for fiscal year (FY)2020 – 2024 by providing technical, consulting, and advisory services related to MEL to USAID/Indonesia.
Purpose of Evaluation
The purpose of this performance evaluation is to investigate and determine the effectiveness of the coordinated Kunci workforce development project design, management, and implementation. The specific objectives of the evaluation are to (1) review performance of the KUNCI project as a whole, with a particular focus on the design and implementation, (2) identify success and opportunities of Kunci workforce development activities that are aligned with USAID/Indonesia’s new CDCS, in particular, the emphasis on Journey to Self-Reliance (J2SR); and 3) identify key lessons learned that can be used to improve future workforce development designs and other relevant Mission-wide activities.
Position Summary
Social Impact Inc. is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Research Assistant (Kunci Project Performance Evaluation) for USAID/Indonesia. This position will work under the supervision of MEL Specialist of USAID/Indonesia MEL Support Project and is fully responsible for arranging and maintaining the field data collection schedule and ensuring smooth logistical proceedings (lodging, transportation, etc.) during fieldwork. If it ever is efficient for the team to split into two to complete additional interviews, this person may be called upon to take notes. As such, they must have at least introductory exposure to field qualitative data collection methods, though they will not contribute to data analysis or drafting the evaluation report.
Please note: This is a local position. Only candidates with Indonesian citizenship will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Assistant will be responsible for:
- Fully responsible for arranging and maintaining the filed data collection schedule and ensuring smooth logistical proceedings (lodging, transportation, etc) during fieldwork.
- Writing detailed interviews and/or FGD notes.
- Managing data collected from the field.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as: public administration/policy; research skills; international development; workforce development; private sector engagement, public policy, or a similar field.
- Demonstrated familiarity with relevant GOI ministries and procedures for obtaining approvals to interview relevant staff.
- Strong written and oral communication in Indonesian required, English additionally preferred.
- Demonstrated past experience in assignments of a similar nature for USG clients preferred.
