The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German implementing organization which provides services worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.
The 1000 Islands - Renewable Energy for Electrification Programme (REEP) is a cooperation project between Federal Government of Germany and Republic of Indonesia that aims to demonstrate the feasibility of renewable energy grid integration to achieve 23% share of renewable energy by 2025 in the selected island grids. The core of the Project’s methodological approach is the systematic integration of private sector’s renewable electricity generation into the grid.
Cooling is considered as one of the most important process in marine, agriculture, and even beverages industries. The fresh catches, vegetables and fruits have to be kept at lower temperature to protect the quality and extend the shelf life of the products. Looking at the high demand of cooling system for different applications, especially in a remote island, a decentralized and small-scale system powered by solar is sought to be a promising solution for a better food value-chain with affordable value to invest.
Many of the solar cooling system available in the Indonesian market are currently imported and are sold at relatively higher price due to the high volumetric shipping cost. Most of the systems are also required battery to run the compressor at a constant frequency. This causes the technology adoption of solar cooling unit to be less attractive. On the other hand, the use of battery will increase the operation and maintenance cost of the system. In this case, a demonstration of a universal battery-less (variable frequency) refrigeration system for cooling application that does not require 24-hours of operation is required to provide alternative option to diesel powered conventional refrigeration system.
GIZ Indonesia is seeking 1 (one) qualified Indonesian candidate for the following position: Internship on Development of Small-Scale Universal Battery-less Solar Cooling System
Responsibilities
The intern provides support for REEP on activities related to the implementation of PV charging station and electric boat. The objectives are to obtain user feedback from using mobile battery pack for electric boat and other small appliances, as well as to evaluate the performance of stand-alone PV charging station using bifacial PV module. The results of the internship period could potentially be used for Bachelor’s or Master’s theses.
Tasks
Duty Station: Jakarta
Working Hours: 5 working days per week, 8 working hours per day
Expected Joining Date: a.s.a.p.
Duration of Internship: up to 6 months
Reporting to: Technical Advisor (Renewable Energy)
Remuneration: The intern will in accordance with GIZ regulations receive a cost-of-living stipend intended to cover living expenses and accommodation if the intern basically resides outside Jakarta.
Interested candidates shall submit comprehensive resume and a motivation letter to: recruitment-indo@giz.de before February 9th, 2020
Please put: REEP – Internship Solar Cooling System as your email subject and name the files using following format: [Your Complete Name]_[Motivation Letter/CV] (i.e: Nakula Sadewa _CV or Nakula Sadewa _Motivation Letter or Nakula Sadewa _Reference)
