WWF-Indonesia, an independent national conservation organization, is part of a global network of WWF. WWF-ID is currently seeking for the best candidate for the position of Fisheries Officer. This position will be based in Kei Island, Maluku and report to Inner Banda Arc Subseascape Project Executant.
Support the development of policy-based research, provide models, development, and implementation of conservation expertise related to effective management of Marine Conservation Areas and management of inner banda fisheries in a sustainable and responsible manner including pelagic, demersal, and aquaculture fisheries (including bycatch issues and endemic species), especially in developing, testing and promoting guidelines for better fisheries practices, EAFM and seeking the possibility and adoption of ecolabel certification (MSC) both at the field, national level in efforts to create sustainable fisheries trade (sustainable trade) and provide support in creating conducive policy conditions in accordance with WWF Indonesia's conservation strategy.
Requirements for this position are:
- Minimum Bachelor Degree (S-1) or above with Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Marine Science, Oceanography, Environmental Science or other relevant major
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in research, coastal monitoring, and oceans, especially with research institutions. Capture fisheries technical experience is preferred.
- Experience working with local communities, NGOs and the government
- Willing to work and travel in remote areas
