DIRECTOR OF RESOURCE MOBILIZATION
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Head of Business Development holds a key role in Save the Children's efforts to achieve greater program results at scale, especially for the most deprived and marginalised children, through the successful pursuit of large and strategic funding opportunities.
This role holder helps execute the vision, strategy, and operational plan to support the national organization in positioning the agency to successfully compete for specific opportunities, responding to those opportunities with a quality process and product and building and maintaining an effective Business Development system of tools, processes, and capacities across the organization.
Recognising that many conversations with donors involve a review or update around current grants as well as discussions about new opportunities, the Head of Business Development will also be expected to keep closely informed about the progress of all major institutional grants.
The role has an external orientation, but works closely with the Member Services Department for interaction, with other members of Save the Children International who provide programme funding, with Member Engagement and Resource Mobilisation Director Asia for strategic alignment at Regional and Global level through annual member engagement.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Recommended a minimum of ten (10) years' management experience in either business or social development setting.
- Excellent writing/editing skills, budget development skills and presentation/communication skills.
- Experience in presenting project information to donors and partners.
- Experience in leading development of large-scale or strategic proposals, including the development of project budgets greater than $1 million.
- Experience of working with financial and other data systems to produce budgets, analyse data and track trends.
- Preferably ability to coach or mentor senior staff in proposal development or funding strategies
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Strong results orientation and initiative with the ability to challenge existing mindsets.
- Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
- Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written, required.
- Preferably Master degree in business, finance or equivalent.
