Vacancy Announcement: Online Counsellor
Part time-Service Contract with possibility extension, Jakarta based, 2 (Two) Positions.
Rutgers WPF Indonesia is a local non-profit organization working in Indonesia since 1997 on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues, as well as the prevention of gender and sexual-based violence. Rutgers WPF Indonesia develops and promotes comprehensive sexuality education for various age categories and needs. Apart from education, Rutgers also focuses on strengthening access to adolescent-friendly reproductive health and sexual services. Rutgers also encourages the involvement of men in the prevention of gender-based violence.
Through the Get Up Speak Out (GUSO) program, Rutgers WPF Indonesia has the role of managing the online platform to deliver information related to Sexual and Reproductive Health named SobatASK. This website was first launched in 2015 as a channel to support the delivery of information and education in the field, including information on youth-friendly health services. SobatASK targets young visitors aged 12-24 years.
Besides providing articles to the readers, SobatASK is also equipped with online counselling features to direct youth to access their sexual and reproductive health services. Online counselling data for the last six months in 2019 have been accessed as many as 222 adolescents, the data shows a fairly good interest in adolescents on this online counselling service. For that matter, as an effort to improve the quality of the program by following the trends of today's adolescents who are more engaged to the digital world, Rutgers will make concrete efforts to encourageSobatASK to become a website for reproductive and sexual health services in Indonesia with more complete services, by expanding the health service network as a place of reference, increasing the number counsellors for better quality services for teenagers, and expanding the promotion efforts to increase the interest of adolescents in accessing information and services on adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
Thus, with the aforementioned background, Rutgers WPF Indonesia is looking for an enthusiastic candidate for the following position and who is interested in working on SRHR issues and who is available on short notice:
Position Summary:
The Counsellor is based in Jakarta and reports directly to the Online Counsellor Coordinator. The incumbent will also work closely with the Communications Team and the Project Officer of GUSO in Rutgers WPF Indonesia. S/He works closely with the Online Counsellor Coordinator to:
- Provide online counselling regularly, in accordance with the agenda set by the Counsellor Coordinator
- Provide a weekly reports which will be shared with the Country Director, HR Specialist, Communication Team and Project officer highlighting the major general issues while maintaining the confidentiality of the clients.
- Plan, develop and maintain an existing agenda set for the online counselling sessions.
- Provide referrals for health services for the clients in need
- Communicate with referral sources and other appropriate parties regarding clients’ progress.
Method of Delivery of the Services
The provision of online counselling services will be agreed based on a monthly basis, with the working hours of 3 hours every day. The working period is for three months (October – December 2019) and subject to renewal based organization need.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counselling, public health, medicine, and other health sciences.
- A minimum of one year experience in counselling (online or face to face).
- Has knowledge in counselling skills and passion for counselling activity.
- Excellent knowledge on the flow of health referrals procedure.
- Excellent knowledge on the adolescent sexual and reproductive health.
- Good communication and interpersonal skill.
- Computer savvy
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines, and work well with others in a fast-paced environment. Should be able to organize and prioritize own work with limited supervision
- Attention to details
